Roll To Dodge / Re: Gifter's Delight: Everybody Hates Rom

Well, since magic damage seems to be directly tied to strength for some reason Twink charges into the fray ears first.
Weren't you throwing the chunk of floor?

Annoying answer. Although...what makes something "technically" human? DNA? Thoughts? Organs?
That was my thought. Though, by those criteria:

No, Hard to say, No.
...Okay, that was quite possibly the most disturbing response you could have given.

((Objectively, how much time has passed since the first mission?))
Um...

9558
"That's not pessimistic..."

Cheat. Upgrade your stats sneakily, without the GM noticing.

I call this: Plan CANNOT POSSIBLY GO WRONG IN ANY WAY!
That was like the fourth thing we did ever.
No, we didn't try hiding it from freeform.

"Comp... wications...?" Mimu stops, looking confused and worried.
"It means...things went really badly."

I'm so thirsty right now, I could drink anything.
Drink the eggnog. Yes, really.
"Sweet. Pudding. Now I only need..."

Eggnog! Steal it! Drink it!
"Hmm... I like these! I hope I get to keep them."
Twink launches a bit of [magically-extracted] ground  at Rom. Specifically at his nethers.
"Let's get this ON!"

Charge over to Rom and beat him senseless with the chainmail.
That's...unconventional.
[Rom init: 3+1]
[Mark init: 4+3]
[Twink Init: 2-1]
[FedUps init: 1]
[Mark grab: 6+1]
[Rom avoid grab: 2+1]
Markland lunges at Rom, grabbing for the eggnog, which spills out over the carpet.
"...I meant to do that? It was probably poisonous? I wonder if I could lick it out of the carpet..."
Rom begins to cry over spilled eggnog, in direct conflict with the Sixth Rule of Elven Decency. (Sure, it's usually taken figuratively, but still.)
[Twink Magic: 6-1] Twink extracts a good-sized chunk of floor.
[Aiming: 5]
[Dodging: 1-1]
[Damaging: 3-2]
[Not getting killed: 1]
On one hand, the chunk majestically arcs into the center of Rom's nethers, which were for some reason being thrust at the chunk of ground. On the other hand, Twink would lose at arm-wrestling to his own grandmother. Sure, it hurts, but that's about all. He's crying, but that might be because of the spilled eggnog, you know?
FedUps briefly mourns the 'nog and the nards, before smacking the victim with his chainmail. Because that's totally what armor is made for.
[FedDex (sorry*): 6+1]
[Rom Agility: 5-1]
[Armor Durability: 6]
[FedUps Strength: 3+3]
[Rom Toughness: 6]
The armor holds together, despite being made largely of sugar and magic and also never intended to be used as a weapon. Its spikes point inwards, and they're more needley in shape than speary. It does still cause more pain.

*Not really.

Raron hides behind a tree... Preferably his little airplane will do something
It follows you, kinda zooming around your head, perhaps trying to find something.

Spoiler: Map (click to show/hide)

Spoiler: Combatants (click to show/hide)

Note to self: Record what the little devices do. I remember about half, overall, but I'll need to reroll some of it. Good news: The forgotten stuff is the stuff I haven't had come into play yet!

Alright, good to know.
Please let there only be one Colossus...

9563
Seems odd that the elf didn't think of that, but eh.

Look for...requisitionable goods.

9565
-snip-
Sorry. I was uncertain if you knew or what.

Bane of All (Passive) - -2 to Melee Combat.
Glass Cannon
Um...I suspect a mistake.

Shoot the Colossus. Hopefully, I can take him down in one shot, or at least--most?--in a few. That should destroy their morale, maybe let us prevail.

Are there really only about a dozen barbarians?

9566
((Hey, Cado, remember her name? It's the one Tori met in the ICOOC thread, remember?))

She accepts.

9567
...Curse you, tiny sprites and what I assume was a terrible Perception roll!

Well, the industral capacity? That I can see staying. The research bonus would be lost due to all the scientists and engineers fleeing the territory.
Full research would be FAR too much of an advantage though. Industry is fine, since that doesn't scale. I'd say around a third to a quarter of the original value would be fair?
Do excuse me, Taricus, but it is a bit too convenient that you've only now decided to bring that up now. A strategy game whose parameters are mutable with no prior input as to their mutability is no strategy game at all. How would one plan ahead in chess were it so that the rook could be suddenly declared to have the same movement pattern as a bishop? One wouldn't, it'd  be madness.
It's a bit more of a specific issue, one too fine to have a real difference in chess. It's more like...this is going to take a bit of explanation.
In Civilization IV, and maybe V (I haven't played it), cities have a Culture...pool, I guess. It accumulates over time, slowly under normal conditions, but faster with the right buildings or whatever. When a city is conquered, this culture pool resets to 0. (I never got that. Was Rome made less of a famed city by being conquered by the barbarians, its greatness only creeping up under its current ownership by the modern Italian nation? What about Teotihuacan and Troy, Washington, DC and Byzantium/Constantinople/Istanbul? But I digress.) You could make the argument that having to rebuild all your culture after losing and reconquering it is unfair to those going for culture victories, or who for whatever reason need wide borders. This situation is like changing how culture loss during conquest works in the middle of a game of Civilization.
...Wow, that was wordy.

Mind you, previously I thought that the entire capital was destroyed wholesale. I only asked to confirm it now just to make sure that was the case, but it wasn't.
As for full research being the motive here, I think you may've slightly gotten the wording wrong, or that you should've really checked your motives beforehand.
I can't quite make sense of what you mean there, in the second paragraph. Unless there has been some misunderstanding, and we haven't been speaking about whether or not captured capitals should provide 10 RP, the motivation behind this conversation is clearly whether or not captured capitals should provide full research value.
If there has, indeed, been a misunderstanding, please do tell.
I think his problem was that you were implying he had an ulterior motive in arguing for lower research output.

Overall...pick something and stick to it. The original implication was that research rates would remain the same when the capital was conquered, but it's not like anyone's plans hinged on doubling their research rates by conquering an enemy--they hinged on conquering enemies because it's that kind of game.

Eighthed. At least, I think that's the proper conjugation.

((This universe, yes. I JUST said that it's possible for other places to exist. Or didn't you READ THAT? the issue is that this creation originated with her. Anything that wasn't part of that creation and is just bridged into this one can have a different origin, and it's entirely possible for single universes to be created that didn't spring from her, at least in that she didn't create them directly. She hardly has a monopoly on Creation. Hell, Selina could create a universe if she got a big enough battery. And I got permission to do it from Scap back when he ran the game, so it's part of the backstory. Second, I don't intend for her to. I didn't even intend for her to get her own body, that was something that came out of RP.))
((1. Ninja'd, I skimmed it.
2. You were pretty against it when I suggested it. What changed?))
((I assumed a tiered structure was what you were talking about. Omniverse contains multiversii contains universii, which in the case of RotMG, has an origin in Shis. Seperate creations would mean different origin points and entirely different structures.))
((Each universe also has a different "origin point". As does each galaxy, each star, each planet, each organism, and each story. Your point?))
((Yes. Basically universes can be created by beings other than her, I didn't contest this, I think I mentioned that at some point. She just creates an infinite amount of them due to the recursive nature of the universe, and is part of the original spark, along with Void, that set the whole of this particular Creation into motion. A different creation simply means that a different spark kicked it off.))
((Which brings me back to why you rejected it initially.))

((Can't be. I already defined it as dilated cardiomyopathy which is a real condition that is (unsurprisingly) not magical in nature and does not grant any powers.))
((It's a mirrorverse, maybe mirror!Cyrielle has thypa-o myioardcatedladi, which is a magical disease of some kind?))

((If it's only inverted personalities, then conditions wouldn't change.))
((Pretty sure there's a lot more to it. kj didn't correct me when I made mirror!Angel a Carl Anderson.))

Kyle eventually reaches the kitchen and notices the him that is wearing clothes that look... dwarfy.
"Kyle, meet Kyle. Kyle, meet Kyle. He's less of an idiot than you."

Kyle reads the IM to Other Kyle who messages back with 'I fuck dragon when I need a challenge' and then goes back to talking with Kyle.
"...I'm guessing there's a better-than-even chance that I would respond to that text with a comment about my girlfriend if I knew what you said."

Marie randomly drags Tori into her fourth-wall-breaking-hideaway (which is also Thera's hub) so she can snuggle.

Thera is unimpressed.
Lots of cuddles are had, after a moment of surprise at the sudden relocation.
Min...Mim...um...the Angel copy whose name I don't remember is left behind, alone.

<Well, looks like the OOC exploded.>
((Aw, I liked the OOC.))

@GWG Mana will not regen in combat. Out of combat, it'll regen 2-3 mana per five posts.))
((Wouldn't it be easier to say half a point per post?))

Our Kyle looks annoyed.
"I have a girlfriend."
"The other one does, too. And yet he doesn't complain. Given the polyamorous tendencies of our Selina, I would expect the other Kyle would much appreciate if I didn't tell his Selina about this..."
Basically, he's preparing to blackmail mirror!Kyle.

"...So many strange images keep jumping in my head everytime you mention the other me..." Conny actually looks to be thinking about it though...
"You're not going to get in the other you's pants. Not as fast as you're imagining, at least."

((I'd prefer to encourage non-combat. Hence why mana was introduced, to put a limit to combat.))
((Because we've had so much combat.))
