When Jaxar finally managed to get free of his mothers clutches, he finally felt free. Flying due south, he felt the temperature gradually increase, until he could bear in no more. Landing on a rocky outcrop in the middle of a great desert, Jaxarsurveyed his surroundings. A big expanse of nothing, the desert seemed to stretch to the horizon in every direction, devoid of any life.
Suddenly, a huge roar came from beneath the sands, and a segmented worm the size of ten fully grown dragons leapt up, it's mouth circle with teeth the size of Jaxar himself. Passing inches from him, the worm fell back down to the ground with a mighty crash, and was quickly gone.
"Not here." Thought Jaxar. Flying further west, the temperature stayed the same, but the weather changed. Slowly raining more an more at night, with the desert giving way to lush grass. Finding herd animals to eat, and lakes to drink from, Jaxar flew further.
And then, one morning, he came to a barrier of trees rising into the heavens, an unavoidable barrier of trunks each the size of the worm he had seen earlier. Sighing, Jaxar plunged into the trees and started to walk, flying being very difficult amongst the trunks. He saw many strange animals in the "forest" (a word he heard his mother use once), having to hover many a time to avoid being eaten. And then, he found a clearing. It had some odd sort of people dancing around in there, completely oblivious to him crouched in the bushes. Thinking this would be a good peoples to raid, Jaxar flew up to a large collection of twigs he saw high up in the treetops. Alarm bells rung when he saw very large feathery animals in it, but he just gave them an impromptu lesson in flying, something they where not very good at.
Starting to train up his fighting and magical powers, preparing for any challenges that might come along, Jaxar looked around.
From his high vantage point in the treetops, Jaxar smiled to himself. He could see several small villages and a huge cave mouth, an area ripe for a dragon as strong as him. And this was only the beginning...
