Imagine the situation.
You're in a Sundy that does a drive-by of an enemy Sundy. You jump out and jetpack towards it, chucking down a brick of C4 as you narrowly miss getting run over by a friendly Harasser that drives beneath you.
Falling back down to the ground and getting to a safe distance you look around for the HUD icon of your explosive, unable to find it among all of the explosions around the enemy spawn vehicle.
Hoping that it hasn't already detonated, you spam the little red button anyway in a vague hope of getting a kill.

BOOM! The kill indicator springs up on your screen, but oddly with no XP accompanying it. Then you realise that the large explosion you saw off to the side the moment you pressed the trigger was the same friendly Harasser going to meet its maker.
...
Go figure. :P

Yeah, I'm with Rez here. I'd prefer air combat a hell of a lot more if it were dependent on POSSIBLE maneuvers rather than who can do the fastest hovering-upside-down-360s.

Popped on to add you two. For anyone else, I'm still Spaghetti7 in-game.

had an interesting experience...person rams me with a fighter while i was in a bomber, my wing gets damaged and loses that side's control(reduced turning and a bit of random spinning afterwards) and his wing fell off completely then asked how was i still alive ::)
I've had it once where I was happily trundling along in a Hurrie or something when a friendly dived out of the wide open blue and smashed himself across my front, instantly dying and setting on fire. All I got was a slightly mangled prop about 20 metres out from the airfield, so I could easily land and repair. He was pretty mad, and claimed that I had no eyes. ::)

Holy fuck, as soon as I got the first Hurricane I instantly fell in love. Now I have the Mk II and the Spitfire, and these things are amazing. I feel sort of cheap being able to get up behind someone and spray them with twelve machineguns at once, but it balances out since it seems the maneuverability of them isn't particularly amazing. They're pretty tough too, since I've managed multiple times to stay alive and get kills with multiple holes in my wings amongst other damage.
My thoughts exactly. However, I'm not too upset about their maneuverability. You can outturn a lot of things in the MkI and the MkII isn't TOO much worse, but its firepower makes up for it.

The He-112s are really the black sheep of the Germans. Get one into a dogfight. You will not regret it.
I'm yet to win a dogfight in any plane against the 112. I hate it so much.

Bthe H6K3 is a bit crazy for a tier 3
Imagine having it as the last plane standing in a match against a few MkI Hurricanes, each sacrificing themselves to it as it flies around a friendly carrier. Yes, it is very crazy.

A fighter ace is shot down over enemy territory and the story follows his attempt to get back to friendly territory without trying to be captured. Inevitably he faces many troubles along the way, probably mainly language issues and maybe a bit of a love story. Gotta have a love story to make him not want to leave.

Alright, after a bit more slugging through the British on this, I have a question:
What advantage does the MkII Hurricane have over the MkI? I mean, it may have 4 more guns, but what use are they with such appalling maneuverability? I can't get into a turning battle with anything and not immediately stall, let alone actually be able to face them. It even manages to perform poorly as a boom-and-zoom due to its rather dubious top speed, which ain't actually all that great.

You may have sensed I like the MkI. :P

Oh, you were talking about the group, not the game. :P 'Fraid I don't know then, but good luck in your searchin'.

Probably wrong with this, but it just popped into my head when you said "city lights" and a woman sings it, so could it be Empire State of Mind?
Not sure whether you mean the chorus sounds like a song called city lights or has it in it, but somewhere in this song it says city lights. :P I've also never played Dead or Alive, so this is a stab in the dark.

I've started having a fiddle with this (on Historical, cuz Arcade is kinda bullshit) and, despite not ever completing a multiplayer mission with my Hurricane intact, I have had some good matches. My best so far was a defense of Sicily one, in which I shot down 4 enemy aircraft before having to crash land after a 112 (forgot the letter before the number, but hey) emptied half of its ammo in to me while I led it on a merry jape around the coast.
Good fun.

I've been meaning to download this for a while, so when I get around to it and to a respectable tier in anything I'd be happy to fly around with you guys. I'd also prefer historical, but whatever'll work.

The full ESF update plans. Pilots who suicide giving XP and kills to the last person to damage them is a nice touch.
Eh, looks okay, but nothin' there I was really hoping for. I was looking for some more bomb-type secondary weapons for ESFs.
To me it seems ridiculous that the only air to ground weapon is an incredibly spammy one when ESFs are made out to be more hit and run aircraft due to the ease of them being shot down now. I'd prefer a more high damage but far lower magazine size missile or bomb which would fit what they're doing with the aircraft a whole lot more.

But maybe that's just me.

This game is very similiar to Avorion in almost every respect, including the incredibly unstable servers. :P

When I was flying I avoided most lockon missiles shot at me by terrain dodging.
Then you were flying before lockons started going around terrain, or you're making things up.
Indeed, it was before they added terrain avoidance.
From what I can tell, the new terrain avoidance isn't foolproof, I've seen non-ECM'd missiles fly into terrain before, though it seems to be a rare occurance.
Yeah, I've managed to dodge them like that before but you have to pull some real crazy moves.
