Once again I find myself wishing I could "like" posts.

If you want to beat Gravios I highly suggest keeping him near some ledges so you can repeatedly hit him with aerial strikes and mount 4+ times. If you can manage that, you'll break his back and his chest quite easily, as well as opening up opportunities to beat on him while he's downed.

If you're not hitting the chest, try to break the legs, even if you're bouncing off. If you can break them you won't bounce off them anymore (unless your sharpness is really, really bad) and that will allow you to hit them repeatedly to incur a trip, which will give you MORE opportunities to hit him while he's down.

Still hoping that one day Project Polaris (bringing PSO2 to the west) will become fully playable. I enjoyed the game well enough back when I played for a bit, but jumping through hoops in order to play again doesn't appeal to me, either.

I get the impression that Qud is relatively unknown. Which is a shame because it is awesome.

I have a friend who doesn't even like non-graphical roguelikes but he just keeps coming back to Qud, says he can't get enough of it. If that isn't a testimony to its awesome, I don't know what is.

Half of my adventures in Minecraft modding were attempts to get HD shaders to work without immense amounts of lag, so this interests me greatly.

That said, I'm glad to hear that it's going to focus on sandboxy things, because Minecraft has its fair share of issues in the adventure deparment - mainly that fighting is basically an annoying sideshow to the gathering and building.

I recommend just using the default standard weapon and see if you actually like it before you invest a bunch of resources into getting the best.
I just noticed I can straight up forge the Examplar Blade for fairly cheap so that's a good idea.

EDIT: Goddamnit. I've been doing a few of the tutorial just to tip my toes into the various weapons. Now I kinda wanna try longsword too...
Seems you've fallen into the Monster Hunter trap. And I'm not talking about pitfalls and shock traps. I'm talking about the one where you endlessly desire more stuff.

Don't worry too much. It's inevitable anyway.
You'll never escape

Anyone know exactly what Purrtuoso/Strong does, and whether or not it's better than Purrtuoso+? I recently got a cat that has it and I'm wondering if I should invest in raising him.

I'm running out of stuff to do...

I've killed every GQ 140 monster. I've killed every monster in general. I've captured every capturable monster. I've mounted every mountable monster. I've killed all the meownster hunter monsters both low rank and high rank. I've collected all the poogie costumes.

I need to fight something harder! I need something like a GQ 180 monster or something.
Uh... beat every G-rank monster without armor?

So... the Seditious Cleaver... it's a greatsword... that folds.

It's a damn folding greatsword.

THIS IS AMAZING.

Pro-tip: Don't kill zombie grenadiers in close combat.
I've currently got a PR up that should make it so they just drop active explosives instead of actually exploding, so that should make things a fair bit easier. :P
You mean they're not hooked up to a dead man's switch.... oh right..
I see what you did there. :P

Spoiler: I am so sorry (click to show/hide)
On a more on-topic note, if you give yourself the Taunt ability (as I mentioned before) and play Lance, you can actually play the traditional tank role present in most MMOs by taking on the brunt of monsters' attacks.

Kind of.

Longsword is a good weapon, I don't see why you should have to switch out of it...

If you want something similar, you could go for Switchaxe. It's quite powerful, and while it might take you a bit to learn an entirely new weapon, it has both reach and speed which are similar to Longsword. The only thing it lacks is defensive abilities; the Longsword has those useful dodge attacks, and a number of other weapons have the ability to block - Switchy has none of that. It's a very berserker-like weapon. Fast, strong, and risky.

I have a friend who swears by it, though, so hey, it's got to be pretty good.

I finally did it, soloed G rank crimson fatalis. after about 20 tries with various weapons, I finally made an insect glaive with 96 stamina, 96 speed and 72 dragon element(108 total) on it. Then I just used the charge bug on it, using the pheromones when I knew where its head was going to be, which let me break the face and horns really quickly. I also killed it the first try with the dragon kinsect.

I didn't know this before but unlike a normal weapon that has its element reduced by 1/10th, the kinsect will get multiplied by 2.5, so 72 dragon element is 180, charge multiplies it by 1.5, so that is 270 dragon element being applied every charge attack(potentially every 1.5 seconds or so).
Geez, that's a lot of elemental damage. I didn't realize kinsects alone could be such powerhouses.

I feel like the only thing keeping Glaive from being the most popular weapon is the amount of time, money, and spreadsheets you have to put into developing them. :P

Unless you like shiny things, then you can make 2 dozen armor sets like me and not use most of them.

So long?
I kill inordinately fast with CB. Lots of phial charging and then 'sploding. Is there some sort of way to go even faster?
Well, I don't know how good you are so I have no clue if you can go faster.
I am so sorry...

In actual MH news, Tidal Najarala is insanely annoying (as I believe was already discussed somewhere on this thread)! Why can't you take after the Berserk Tetsucabra, Tidal Najarala? His attacks aren't cheap homing balls of death! He doesn't try to encircle you with a really cheap, hard-to-avoid attack that does nothing but waste your time!
WHY ARE YOU SUCH A JERK
