I can't really blame you for it, Sirus. The large part of the fun in Pokemon is finding the new stuff, namely, well... the Pokemon. By the time you start nearing the end, you already have your A-team of fully evolved badasses and you know at that point that there's not much more to do aside from watch numbers go up. Unless you want to go and evolve every single Pokemon you have in your PC, but that's more grind than fun.

I beat the Elite Four twice, once in FireRed and once in Pearl, but that was years back. Now, whenever I try out a new Pokemon game, I often get bored far before I get anywhere close to the end, so... I can relate.

Steam roguelike sale is on. If you're dying for Crypt of the Necrodancer or starving for Don't Starve, now's your chance to get them and a number of other roguelikes at a lower price.

Oh man those puns were terrible

"Not with that attitude."

This guy is a gem. I hope he sticks around for later story arcs.

Ah, good ol' getting OHKO'd after quaffing an antidote because your brave hunter had to flaunt his strength... a monster hunter staple we hope will never go away.

Interested in finally getting into this series myself, but I have reservations.

I have a 3DSXL.  Not the "New" one.  Is this game even worth playing on that system?  I also don't have any add-on stick thing that I've heard about, and wouldn't plan on getting one.

Also, I tried the demo version, and it was both a bit overwhelming and underwhelming.
Overwhelming: So many things in menus and what the hell is it all supposed to do.
Underwhelming: Tried lance(r?) class.  Seemed like all I could do was a basic three thrust combo, and I couldn't turn while in said thrust combo.  Felt like I was trying to fight in a swamp made of molasses.  Was I just doing something wrong, or is combat movement not all that fluid?

Without a way of controlling camera it's iffy. You can get used to fighting by using the targeting system (just hit L to move the camera to face the monster you have targeted), but... it's iffy.

You can ignore most of the menus. There are a few that are important, like inventory. Apart from that, don't worry too much. The game does a decent job of introducing new elements as you go, and you can always ask friendly Bay12ers for help if you have a question (or just look it up on the wiki).

Some weapons allow you to adjust your aim mid-combo. Lances do not. They're a more tactical weapon. I would recommend trying a more beginner-friendly weapon, like sword and shield.

Overall, Monster Hunter is not like your typical action game. If you come into it expecting to be able to jam buttons and execute crazy-ass combos and whip around at a moment's notice, you're going to be unpleasantly surprised. Monster hunter is about preparation, timing, caution, and learning patterns. Oftentimes, you have to play by the monster's rules if you want to win.

It's different, and it's not for everyone. Nobody can definitively tell you if you'll like it or not. But if you're willing, give it a try. It's popular for a reason.

The Fatalis CB opens its eye when you go into axe form.

I'm fairly certain the hammer info on Kiranico is completely wrong. I've gotten more gems, palliums, and reactors than I have hammers and obliterators.

The only reason I'm using the C. Fatalis CB instead of the Brachy one is because the Brachy one needs 3 obliterators. No way in hell am I going to farm that.
But that Lightbreak Blade is so coooooool~

I hate getting those Brach Hammers.
Haha. Hahaha. Ha.

Yeah... no kidding. Brach hammers exist to make you angry. I once killed three Brachy in a row, each time breaking BOTH FISTS and capping, with no hammers.

Then I got fed up and just murdered him, breaking one fist, and got a hammer.

What do you want from me, game?

I was doing great. Had a jetpack, a freeze ray, the Udjat Eye and loads of money...

And then my (dead) co-op partner misplaced a little gust.

I went flying down several levels of the stage, through at least four(!) enemies, before landing solidly on a mantrap and dying instantly.

Abuse..? I could never do that...

But I'd be lying if I said I wasn't disappointed that there isn't one... :(

so we can expect that bug fixed in the next version.   Any NPC improvements-new things on the horizon
Not really, but z-levels keeps climbing slowly closer and closer to release thanks to the efforts of Coolthulu. :D
HYPE.

I'm already excited as heck for the stamina changes (which are adding some awesome depth to the game even in this early experimental state), but Z-levels? I'm more excited than a survivor on meth and toast'ems.

I'm still using the crappy starter CB. This thing is like a lover to me now. I should probably name it...
That and get an armor set that has Free Element so you can paralyze things in honor of all you have gone through together.

*Heavy breathing*

Finally... reached... G rank...

And jeebus that Ukanlos was annoying. He was digging every three seconds and doing that annoying swimming attack. If he didn't have that move the hunt would have been half as long as it was.
