Does anyone know what effects picket and extended orbit have?

They both have obvious effects, orbit at set distance and move at 1km/s etc. But what would you actually use either of them for?
Does it conserve fuel to extended orbit?

If you have stockpiled ship components does it make shipbuilding faster, or cheaper or both?

It seems like I never see any time/cost reduction, despite my shipyards consuming stockpiled parts.

Is there any way to destroy or scrap shipyards?
You could SM it away I believe.

Thanks.

Er, so is there a way to make sure officers don't get declared surplus and let go? I want to keep my geology team, but I want them to stop bothering me with constant 'no minerals' reports.

I think you can go into the "Open Officers Window" and check the box that says "Do not end tour" for each officer.

So I accidentally created some of those blank "23rd Type Abbrev" ground units from when I had no ground unit tech.
Is there any way to delete them from existence?

They're in a limbo state right now so they show up in the vacancies list in the Leader menu, and I can "load" them onto my troop transports. But they don't actually fight or even show up on the ground units list.

I tried to load them onto a transport and deleted the transport in transit. So now they still exist, they just have a blank location.

Engineers found some good stuff on the ruins on Mars, but I triggered the "robotic guardian" event twice.

I've transferred more ground troops from Earth and it seems like I'm forever fighting the robotic guardians. They never seem to be defeated despite me inflicting ~40% "enemy casualties" constantly. It's already been over a year into this little "war" and every few months they manage to destroy a mine or some infrastructure, and it's really getting annoying.

Does anyone know when they'll finally lie down and die?

Engineer Brigades occupy the same space as 5 normal battalions.

Anything else like that I should know for transporting troops.
Multipliers etc.
And do I even need the drop module since I'm not doing a combat drop?

Spoiler (click to show/hide)

Cannot pick up ground unit as the fleet has insufficient space.
Battle Task Group failed to Load 15th Engineer Brigade from Ciel. Any additional orders will be on hold until the problem is resolved.

What's wrong with the current design?
And, no the ship isn't already carrying troops.

Just starting to get into the game, no troubles getting started but I gotta wonder.

The NPR, Precursors, Swarms and Invaders are the enemies here.

But according what what I've seen you guys write, the NPRs are total pushovers as they make terrible technological and economic decisions. The precursors mainly stick to their own system, and the Invaders are apparently rape machines and everyone turns them off.

The game places a huge emphasis on combat and military logistics. What exactly are the threats I'm going to be fighting?

DF Dwarf Mode Discussion / Re: Sharp Blades Tag?

Better chance of lopping off limbs and/or more effective vs unarmored creatures I think.

They share the tag with obsidian but the making swords from stones process only takes obsidian.

Use a pay to play model.
Loot with randomly generated stats and bonuses
Grind for items, not levels
Have multiple town hubs, each with isolated auction houses, different npc wares, etc.
Have player/guild housing, even if instanced.
Recolorable andRe-skinable Equipment within reason (no reskining swords as axes, robes as heavy armor, coloring a weapon invisible, all one color etc.)
Limit wide area chatting; No server channels, or region channels etc. You can talk with your guild, party, friends from anywhere, but otherwise your chatting is confined to the local area.
A bigger focus on PvE, large cooperative events, and/or faction PvP, rather than team based arena PvP.

I know I'm bumping an old topic, but is it possible to implement different ammo for the musket and airgun? They should be using blunt ball ammo and should make lead more useful than it is now for ammo material.

Oh and cannons for the siege operator...

Unfortunately blunt weapon type doesn't work very well in projectiles. You can tweak the contact area and velocity modifiers of the bullets to be more like hammers but from what I've experimented with, blunt ammo always does glancing blows and minor bruising.

Maybe you should make it clear in the OP that everyone here is apparently playing HateMoo (HellMoo: After the End) not plain HellMoo

New Vegas a "Real" Survival game?
What a load of crap.

It's incredibly easy to stay alive even at the highest difficulty. Having to stop every hour to eat and drink is just an annoying chore. You NEVER have to have actively look for food and water to stay alive. And instant travel makes being in the desert a joke.

Any game where you can find food and water just lying on the ground without having to spend time to forage, kill or dig for it shouldn't count as "Real" survival.

In DF you have to at LEAST forage in bushes for edible plants or hunt game. And although you CAN drink water that's almost everywhere, it still isn't an acceptable replacement for booze.

In New Vegas?
Oh look, a convenient trough full of potable water. Working sinks everywhere.
Oh look, someone just left some Instamash on the floor. Food from vendors is dirt cheap.

If only they had the balls to add vitamin deficiency or heat stroke.

The Cutter is awesomely fast.
Hunters Blade looks fucking amazing, there is no way the other 5-star items can hope to match that. Especially with the five-hit combo.

I've found that I REALLY dislike the cutter class of swords. Mainly because it has low knockback and higher tier enemies will continue attack animations without getting flinched by the cutter's blows.

Heavy swords are actually the practical weapons for the higher tiers. Attacks are slower and there are less hits, but the hits that you DO land do great spike damage and have huge knockback.

Charged attacks from heavy swords also usually shoot projectiles.
