DF Modding / Re: Playing as goblins?
« on: November 11, 2010, 08:55:08 am »
You're waaaay ahead of me! :D
Have fun! I'm gonna make a goblin fort, next, too. Been planning to, but my current, dwarf fort hasn't failed... Yet. :P

What -is- that graphics set?! Why have they changed all the letters to annoying pictures?! I am confused...
On topic: You probably have dwarves who like hatch covers, though. :)

No no, in ENTITY_DEFAULT. :)
Creature is for the creatures themselves, so if you want a seven-armed goblin race, or goblins emitting clouds of poison gas, you edit there.
ENTITY_DEFAULT is where you edit the civilizations. :D

A great story! :) I'm sure she'll slaughter plenty more enemies of Carnagemansion yet!
I'm glad you gave here a mansion. :D

Wow... Just amazing.
You just made me like dwarves!
Sure, I play Dwarf Fortress, but before that I'd had a distinct dislike of dwarves... In all fantasy novels I've read, they're usually annoying little pains in the rear, know-it-alls almost as bad as elves, who I loathe...
I'd gained some fondness for them as they died horribly carrying out my plans in fortress mode, but that was it. I would've much preferred to play as goblins.
But reading this awesomeness, I now like dwarves. That is just so epic. :D Great job!

Also: I like looking through Legends mode, although with the pages and pages of unrelated names, it's difficult... It'd be great if legends mode was fixed up. :)

Now I can't help but picture my old maths teacher getting home from work, cackling insanely as he walks to his computer and starts writing up mad plans to kill goblins with socks... :o

Right, awesome. A novice liar, poor focus and not easily moved to pity.
So when people starting choking on fish-bones, (he was drunk as he prepared the fish, and distracted by a sexy hatch-cover nearby) his response was to shout, "Look out! There's something wrong with the booze!"

So that's why he ended up miles away from fish. :P

DF Dwarf Mode Discussion / Dwarf Injuries

Share the most hilarious/horrible/bizarre injury your dwarf has survived/died to/laughed at!!
I was inspired to do this when I spotted:
Spoiler (click to show/hide)
At first I assumed the dwarf was dragging a heavy chain or something, but no items showed when I hovered over it... I looked more closely at the dwarf, and realised they were one of my walking wounded... With their guts popped out...
Yes, that's right! The tildes are their intestines, being dragged over the rocky ground as they wander around farming!!  :o

For the first time, one of my dwarves has given birth!
...I wonder how long the kid'll last?
In other news, it's really just another day at the office. Most of my injured dwarves are up and about one more; albeit with horrible crippling injuries and trailing entrails, except for my militia commander-- One of the true heroes of this fort. :( I hope he makes it!
My sheriff is doing his job well, cleaving a petty vandal in half in the name of Ast.
Ast is a diety of The Sensitive Standard. Ast most often takes the form of a female dwarf and is associated with chaos, war, fortresses and metals.

DF Gameplay Questions / Re: Hello? Shoppping?

Shops are broken, i.e, non-existent in the latest versions, apparently this (along with a whole load of other stuff) will be fixed in .17, which should be out any day now! :)

I don't know what is personality is, but can I claim Rigoth Avuzniget?
He was kicked out of his mountain hall when several people choked on fish-bones at a feast. Whoops.

Lol I get pestered by zombie warthogs. They aren't that bad, but occasionally they'll kill an animal, and even more occasionally a dwarf. Also the occasional zombie tiger man/zombie giant tiger/zombie giant lion.
My military makes short work of 'em! Even my horribly injured dwarves with multiple broken bones! :D

Lol, with all the stuff in the 'most evil thing' thread, you should be able to drive a wagon and cruise around kidnapping people.
xD

Migrants! My fort is saved! Of course, the place's main industry right now is murder and body disposal, so that could be a problem.

This sums up so much of my time in this game perfectly!

So, all in all, a pretty average Tuesday.

That is freaking hilarious! :D

:P As it is I usually just stab things until they pass out, then wander off.
Crusading, however, sounds AWESOME. And your adventurer could have a random deity like the ones dwarves get in fort mode, and you could choose to enforce their belief on people! With Violence! :D
