DF Modding / All attributes in Dwarf Therapist
« on: September 05, 2012, 06:09:50 am »
Hi,
I've been wondering - is there a way to write a custom script that will show other attributes in Dwarf Therapist besides strength, agility and toughness ? What about creativity, endurance, spatial sense,...

Thanks

DF Dwarf Mode Discussion / Surprize for elves
« on: April 01, 2012, 03:47:47 pm »
So... I've started this game in a on an aquifer (was fun digging trough it) good-calm biom... Now - it is boring, so I am planing to bring fun to a higher level.
Any enemy that happens to come to lvl3 cavern gets killed, any poor elephant that stumbles to the outside gets killed. No goblins! No wars - only occasional vampire (that imediately gets recruited to the vamp squad) and were-hyenas from time to time. It is boring...
So, now I am planing a surprize party for elves when they aprear in spring :)
I've constructed a special room with depo access just for them, that can be sealed with floodgates. Also there is a pit next to it which walls can be lowered - yes you guessed it right - filled with presents  ;D
So far I've captured dozen unicorns, few elephants, lava man and a cave crawler... Now I am thinking - is it safe for me to just dump them from 1lvl above the pit? Are they going to escape? I know every time I try to move unicorns they escape. I would not like for that to happen to me with let's say a cave crawler...
Is there some other way except for linking them to a lever? (it would take a lot of mechanisms and time).

DF Gameplay Questions / Updating game
« on: March 05, 2012, 09:55:49 am »
Hi, I've been searching around and I can't find some post that describes how to update my DF. (if there is, you can pm me and delete this post).

  • I've downloaded the newer version (34.04).
  • renamed the folder of the last version (34.01)
  • installed the newer version
  • coppied entire content of the "saves" folder to the newer version

When I run the game he offers me to create a new world, but I would like to continue playing my last world.

DF General Discussion / Linux guide to install Dwarf Fortress
« on: February 18, 2012, 01:37:26 pm »
Hi,
receantly i've installed Linux to my Asus netbook (r051) and now I would like to install Dwarf fortress. Since I am still a newbie for all those scary Linux commands, I would be happy if someone would help me with installation.

I've downloaded the Linux version from bay12 site: http://www.bay12games.com/dwarves/df_34_02_linux.tar.bz2

I've first unpacked it using command:
Code: [Select]
tar -xjvf df_34_02_linux.tar.bz2This is pretty much where it stops for me - code:
Code: [Select]
./install doesn't do anything (read somewhere it would be the next step). When I try to run the file "df" using code:
Code: [Select]
./df it says:
Code: [Select]
./df: ./libs/Dwarf_Fortress: /lib/ld-linux.so.2: bad ELF interpreter: No such file or directory
Could you help me somehow, because I've really enjoyed playing it on the windows 7, and I would not like to use windows version on wine now that there is a linux version.

I have a linux netbook Asus r051 running Linux Fedora 16 LXDE 64-bit version. I have 1Gb of memmory and dual core procesor 1Ghz.
Thanks to everyone that will be willing to help a newbie in the world of opensource :)
