DF Modding / Re: [MODDING] 0.34. QUESTIONS THREAD

Because the werebeast creatures aren't special creatures; they're either the person, or the beast, at seperate times, randomly defined. For example, my adventurer got bitten. Every full moon he turns into a cat for a bit. Then turns back. So I have to hole up in a lair.

I don't... think so... I'm not quite sure how the spread works. There are tags to make it learnable. I don't know what would happen if you got a book in your fort some how.

EDIT: Just set the number of secrets to 0... and still got a necromancy one (and the only book/slab made). What... maybe I've made a mistake.

Looking in the mosquito raws, they have a heart and brain... they're not NO_THOUGHT, so my guess would be removing brain would be enough to cause them to die instantly. Easiest way, probably.

Also you should still decrease the number of worldgen secrets because even a small world starts with 22 necromantic secrets which are picked first.

There's a set number which are always necromantic? I'm not sure if I understand how the thing works... does it have a total number, and a set number, and then fills the rest (if there is a rest) with random ones... which could just be the hardcoded one anyway?

So spamming the same secret repeatedly will increase the chance...? It's just, it means the user doesn't have to chnage anything.
It's not the most elegant solution, but...  yeah, I guess.

No, you're right, it's the most Dwarvenly.

Once I get secrets working, I've got some great ideas which should be able to be part of Fortress as well as Adventurer.

Just got it down for myself by looking through the example interactions. Still having issues with some stuff. I'll be compiling a big list of "How to do cool shizz in 0.34.1" over the next few days, if you're interested.

Deon, so is it possible to have...

A foodstuff
Causing a syndrome
Allowing access to interactions.

And if so, how would I do it? I'm having difficulties... :)

Even just using the example secret straight out the box doesn't work. Deffo something strange going on here. Nothing I'm trying to mod today has really worked... interactions, syndromes, body parts, everything goes wrong with no errors registered. :P

Can someone else make a secret, just to confirm? Please?

DF Adventure Mode Discussion / Possible Bug?
« on: February 14, 2012, 02:18:38 pm »
Not repeated it, but just entered a river a little too close to a waterfall and got washed down. My lower leg got smashed apart, the bone totally shattered. Luckily, I dropped in and out of conciousness enough to get to the edge, and I could swim reasonably well too. I fast traveled a short distance, and upon going back to the main screen... no injuries. Not even a scratch. Nothing.

Odd.

EDIT: I get to a town, and ask to sleep in a house. I go to sleep. I wake up... on the roof. I die instantly after trying to jump off. (Only one floor, hey ho...)
Something odd here...

A will continue to sit on it forever I bet. Also, surely the toilets will be stolen by chickens. This won't work. I think there are reasons why it's not in the game. ;P
