Don't make a stockpile in the hospital unless you want job cancellation spam.

Not sure if there is a mod that makes cats to eat stone instead of vermin? I have a shit load of cats I think If I could get them to eat stone my problems would go away. Unless of course they eat it out of the ground... Then again I wouldn't need any miners =)

Possibly one of the best ideas I've seen so far.  :D

More reasonably though, you might as well dump excess stone into the magma sea or atom smash them.

Sometimes, rivers can work like aquifers in that if you add water to them, they will be pressurized off the map.
Rivers only flow in one direction, so in your first picture, water will only go towards the left.

Also, it is really satisfying to watch alligators, stingray, carp, etc go down waterfalls and explode.  8)

Sounds like you could build two high-pressure liquid cannons (one water, one magma) and direct them over a hole and make obsidian  which would instantly fall to crush anything beneath it.

I've thought about this many times but never actually figured out a design that works. Screw pumps will only move liquids 1 tile away, where then it drops and spreads randomly. To force the lava/water to spread towards each other will require walls, but then the obsidian will attatch to the walls...

Use +/- instead of up/down.

These settings are very inconsistent and take a while to get used to.

I think axes are still superior.
An aimed axe attack can cut off the head and make it fly in an arc.

Lavish meals are useful to get rid of all the meat and plants from over-farming and butchering kitten-type animals.
