Allow me to recommend a thread for those of higher artistic ability.

Your work exceeds the limits of us mere mortals on the Random Things thread.

Seriously, if this does not stop, I'm going to report it to Toady.

General Discussion / Re: The Dream Thread
« on: January 05, 2013, 02:27:09 am »
The only things i can remember about my dream last night were these: I was going on a date with someone (I really don't know who), and before the date we made a madcap dash up a long, steep hill, apparently to get to the place we had arranged for the date. It was a lot of fun, for both of us.

There may have been some life-threatening danger involved later on, but that bit is so hazy I that can't recall any of it.

okay, this thread needs to stop. It's really gone too far (not that I can deny involvement in it), much like the Chaos thread of a few months ago, and will soon be in danger of provoking godly wrath from the Great Toad.

What I would find impressive is video games without written language.
Very early games were nothing but text, looking at you Infocom! I wonder how games would have gone if we only ever had verbal communication.
it would require a completely different standard of computing than we have now. EVERYTHING we do with computers involves, ultimately, the input of text, whether at the coding level or the input level.

A non-written computer would have to have some very interesting ways to do it differently.

anyway, without written language, how would we store up the knowledge of the technology required to make a computer?

Let's start a quote pyramid.
Let's not and say we did.
Or let's and say we didn't.
LoWhi stopped the one that was forming.
Quote pyramids are evil. And FUN.
FIIIIIXED.
That works.
That's cheating.
What do you define as a true quote pyramid?
Recursive quoting. What you did wasn't a pyramid, but just piling some quote tags on each other and then putting the quotes on top.
I think we succeeded.
Meaningful statements placed closely together make for the best pyramid. This will have to do, though.
This is now the quote pyramid and nonsense thread. Because we all know what this forum needs.
Yes we absolutely need another Various Nonsense. yes. [/sarcasm]
It's widely agreed upon that the removal of that board was the second biggest mistake of Toady One.
And the first?
