Wow. Was not expecting the sudden labyrinth appearance.

This is going to play into the suspense isn't it?

152
Al is like the hardboiled detective, the mobster kingpin, the gutter rat informant, and the femme fatale in one package.

You all wish I could draw... because the image of Al I see in my head is hilarious. After that above line I imagine him turning around (in a desk chair) and saying "Hey baby" with his troll face and a smoking a cigar.

And the Gutter rat informant should be Slog. I can see him in his hat and with stubble on his face.

Al: What's the word on the street, Slog?
Slog: Blorble...

Ciro: Is that a pass phrase or something.
Al: Nah... that's the only word cuz, that's all he can say. You can't call a man a slimeball if he doesn't rat... and you can't call a slimeball a rat cuz he can't talk. But he always knows. Always.

Now that is an interesting idea. Al in a fedora...

Suddenly, I'm imagining Al as a detective in a film noir.

Al: It was a dreary rainy Tuesday, when she walked in. She needed a smart tough detective and instead she got me. So she kind of won out on that deal.

154
Yeah, sorry that took so long.

This is my first time role playing and I'm kind of having fun with getting a character going. I'm not going overboard am I?

155
<Yes.>

<In that case, I'm in. If I can help stop others from feeling the pass of a lost loved one... I'll do it.>

Beryl begins to pace the room in deep thought. No longer even aware of Kyubey's unending gaze. His every bit of brain power attempting to find a wish that he could use. He stops and looks at Kyubey.

<I wish for power over the timeless winds of change. If there is ever a fate or fortune too ill for someone to bare, I want the power to change it. Whether it be my own fate or an ally's. That is my wish.>

Beryl looks Kyubey in the eye... and winces in pain and holds his hand up to head while swaying out of balance for a second. While he does this something escapes his mind... a voice...

<It's a shame we only need her. He has potential too. But she still needs time to grow first.>

a flash... an image... a boy cowering in his bed is looking out a window... two eyes catch the glare of a street light outside... something is watching... it is staring from outside... I think it knows I'm awake... can it hear my thoughts...

Slowly the room lights up and the walls and furniture move, the boy fades away. The eyes behind the window slowly turn red and Kyubey's body fades into view. Beryl realizes he's back in his dorm room for a brief second.

<wwwwhhaaaaaaaaaaaat...

Beryl collapses onto the floor.

156
<It's not like anyone would believe you if you went around saying you had magical powers. Only those who have potential can see me anyways.> Kyubey is still staring at Beryl.

<Is it possible that if someone disappears without a trace that a Witch is involved?>

157
Kyubey does not blink, <I will grant any wish that you wish for. Anything at all. I will grant it.>

<More of the manifestations of negative emotions. We need to put them down because they hurt people. You follow?>

<Okay, so we get contracted to fight witches to help people and the wish is the compensation for that.>

Beryl loses his staring contest with Kyubey and turns his head away. He thinks for a bit... and an idea hits him. He looks back at Kyubey.

<How do Witches hurt people? If a person goes missing, could a Witch be to blame?>

158
<So we fight Witches then? Like the Wicked Witch of the West?>

Beryl look at Kyubey, who is still staring at Beryl intently with its big creepy eyes. Beryl was a shiver trace down his spine.

<Can you at least blink if you're going to be doing that.>

159
<I don't believe that there are restrictions on what you can wish for, but they may be misinterpreted. Be careful.>

<Yeah, that's what I thought. I mean... this is kind of unnerving really... I was just reading a book with a bunch of horror stories including the story...
"The Monkey's Paw". So I'm a bit... suspicious of wishes right now. And the first wish that came to mind might be asking for trouble if it could even possibly be granted in the first place... I should probably think of a better wish.>

<Does the wish have any additional significance to the deal other than being what I get out of it?>

160
Beryl has a lot of questions running through his mind. He begins to thumb through his book page by page.

<Are there any limits on the wish? Is there anything impossible to wish for, like bringing someone who's dead back to life? Or finding a missing person. What happens if you break your end of the contract? Like what if I don't get what I want out of my wish, like that one voice who said he wanted to be able to do some kind of shape-shifting. I mean he didn't exactly get what he was expecting did he? I ask because I do have a wish on my mind but I'm unsure if I could get what I want out of it.>

161
Beryl hears the new voice and sees something white out of the corner of his eye.

Sitting on his shoulder was the weird catlike Kyubey. Though it was sitting on his shoulder the creature
seemed to have no weight and it was like it wasn't there at all.

Beryl is visibly shaken by the sudden appearance of the strange creature and his reflexes kick in and he swings at the creature,
but it just alights from his shoulder and makes its way across the room and hops onto the the windowsill.

It looks at Beryl with its empty red eyes.

<Yeargh!>

<Oh... so... I guess, that you are Kyubey.>

162
<Maybe... Either way, I've got nothing to lose. I presume it's similar for you?>
He's taken on a more somber tone now

Beryl smirks a bit on this line.

<That's a big assumption to make about a person you've yet to meet.>

<As I mentioned, the wish has a cost: you make a contract with the boxcat to destroy Witches.>

<How many Witches? For how long?>

163
<I don't know what I'd do with a wish either...>
<Granted, I wonder if there's a catch to the wish.>

Beryl rifles through the corner of the pages on his book.

<Some things, might be too good to be true.>
<I overheard the word contract in all that muddle...>

164
<*sigh* This is just going to be one heck of a night ain't it.>

<So magic and witches are real. And telepathy too.>
<This is rather hard to wrap my head around.>

165
((Oh god not the blinds!))

((Beryl, like me, has a weird fear of being around windows at night. I hate the feeling of not being able to see something out there that might be looking in a me. It is weird, but I thought it might be an interesting trait for Beryl to share with me.))

Beryl uncomfortably shifts his weight from foot to foot and then steps back and leans on the door frame where he can't see the window. He's decides to listen to the conversations for bit before entering the room.
