I tried making my corridors 3 tiles wide, and now I'm experimenting with 2 tiles wide. They seem to be pathing just fine, but 1 tile wide was just bad.

I had a mayor elected recently that likes steel. First thing he did was ban the export of steel goods. OK, no big deal. Then he wanted a steel door in his dining room. Done. Now he's asking for another steel door in his dining room. Umm...

If it matters any, his bedroom, dining room, and meeting room are all overlapping.

Train up a monster military and conquer hell. There is always a use for more dwarves!

To solve your excess food problem, try making smaller farm plots, so it's easier to adjust how much you are producing.

I've seen a thread where someone posted their fortress defenses. They had magma being pumped and a curtain was constantly being poured from the ceiling and through some grates in the floor, recycling it and preventing magma pools from forming. So basically, a magma resevoir and a couple of pumps to dump a small amount of magma on anything that comes through the front door.

Steel does make good blunt weapons. It has a higher critical wound chance than silver, but silver is better at penetrating armor, which is the whole reason you want blunt weapons in the first place. Maces are smaller than war hammers, so I think they can be swung faster, but with less force per hit.

Hmm. If they are still trying to kill it, does it mean they are still attacking it? This could be a great way to train up weapon skills!

I guess I'll just wall off the meeting area I already have. Currently, it's above ground for just this purpose, but in an area where if goblins get in, they will spook my civilians.

I embarked on a volcano recently that supposedly had an aquifer. I ran out of murky pools and needed to make some wells, so I cheated and used dfreveal. When I finally found it, it was miniscule and tucked away at the side of the map. It was in stone layers, though. I've found that most of my caverns don't have standing water in them, though.

I don't want my dwarves to get cave adaptation, but at the same time, I don't want them above ground all the time. how much sunlight do they need to prevent adaptation? Will a single tile of sunlight every season be enough? Or does it have to be much more?
