DF Dwarf Mode Discussion / Glitched [SPOILER] Fortress
« on: February 13, 2011, 11:59:53 am »
UNSPOILERED SPOILERS IN THIS THREAD!

So, I embarked on an unaligned savage oceanside. My game has a half-dozen mods, including Fort Defense, some dragons, and Minotaur as a playable race. Immediately after unpausing, I am told that a cave-in has happened underground. The unit list shows some very unusual monsters.

Yes, those are undead demons.
Knowing the identity of this phenomenon, a quick check yielded five weapons at my fortress, one of which was an *Adamantine Scimitar.* Running DFhack's Reveal tool yielded some very interesting results.
These are the pictures of the Demonic Fortress. The two-z-level fortress open to the pits of Hell. Filled with swarms of undead demons even before the pits of Hell have been opened. There are ten pages of undead monstrosities down there.

Also note that instead of glowing floors, there is empty space in the floor of the room housing the weapon. There is a single tile of glowing floor right above a staircase that leads downwards.

Anyway, my guess is that defeating the forces of Hell will be a bit more difficult than usual. After unpausing, the number of demons that showed up brought the number of evil creatures down there to eighteen full pages, along with a skeletal Draltha hanging out in the caverns.
Anyone know what is going on here?

DF Modding / Full Soil Layers Bug
« on: February 01, 2011, 09:08:20 pm »
Hello, everyone. I am working on a total conversion mod, the inspiration of which is here:
http://www.bay12forums.com/smf/index.php?topic=76248.0

The general idea is that of resource deprivation. To do this, I needed to change all the rock layers to soil layers so that I could have only a small amount of native stones available. For the most part, it has worked, with one type of "softstone" making up the sedimentary, igneous and metamorphic layers. However, there is a small bug.

What you see here is a chunk of ground, underneath which lies my custom softstone. Those tiles are, very rapidly, changing from one type of soil to another, even when the game is paused. This appears to happen to any soil floor when I embark. However, once I actually dig into it it becomes the type of soil the wall is made of. The rapid tile-change is very lag-producing and definitely a problem.

The modifications I made to the raws are as follows:
All gems have been removed.
All metal ores except for the spoiler and slade have been removed.
All metals except the spoiler have been removed (I'm using rock picks, actually)
All stone layers except for obsidian have been removed.
Four new layers have been created, one for each stone layer (sedimentary, etc.), each of which is a clone of the clay soil. The raws of all five are as follows:

Does anyone have any idea how to combat this?
Thank you in advance for anyone who knows how to help.
