Other Games / TBS Games Similar to the Warlords Series
« on: May 07, 2011, 05:19:36 pm »
Title says it all.
I loved Warlords III when I was ten or so, and have been trying to find similar games since. I have Warlords II, and that is entertaining sometimes, but I was wondering if there were other good games on the market (preferably free) that were similar.
Thanks for any suggestions!

DF Modding / Re: Naryar's modding (NOW WITH MOAR DEMONS)

I love the demons. They make the underworld feel more D&D-esque, which I think is a good thing. It also gives people a chance against the horrors of the underworld.

Because of Dwarf Fortress, I remembered the name of every major organ for my Biology final.

I use 5x5 bedrooms
5x5 is excessive, really. My dwarves live on 4 tiles (1 bed, 1-2 cabinets, engraved walls), and they like it.
If we're going to out-hardass; in almost all my forts my common Dwarfs have 3x3 rooms with only a bed and a door. And I only add cabinets if they have clothes on the floor. :P
I'm going to out-hardass you. No dwarves get rooms unless they need them; I have a communal dorm instead.

As for nobles? They are damn annoying. Magma-proof furniture and a *floodgate* for them.

In a brief test, I gave dwarves [CANNOT_UNDEAD] and embarked. I killed a total of 20 dwarves for !!!SCIENCE!! before one came back as a ghost.

Olm men are smaller than dwarves. The dwarf will win.
And I applaud you, good sir, for your straight dive into !!FUN!!.

You know, to restore my lost honor I'll challenge JacenHanLovesLegos to an honorable melee to the death. What say you, hooman?

1119
That was, to put it simply, epic. I like how tiny my army looks next to everyone else :P
I'm going to run that battle myself so I can see it.

Not that I know of.
Drilling, though?

I must get one.

Playing as a harpy with grasping wings.
I'm terrorizing this one human civilization, killing everyone I come across. I raided a fortress in the middle of the night, killing the law-giver and his kids. I have yet to find a backpack, which is sad, but I have a bronze pick and bronze shield, about the best I can hope for.

EDIT:
New adventurer.

*cries softly*

Make DWARF SPARTA.

Only use bronze/copper spears, swords and shields as your militia weapons. All citizens rotate into the militia or hunt as their permanent duties. Bonus points if you drop a diplomat down a 50Z level pit/well shouting whilst it happens. MegaSPARTAdwarfbonus points if you survive 15 ingame years wearing no armor other than shields and cloaks.

Embarking now. The gods have decided to mock me, as there is SURFACE LIMESTONE AND LIMONITE. I will make limonite a non-economic stone and watch as every DF player cries simultaneously.
Also? The only clothes my civilization has is loincloths. If I survive, this will be badass.

Hm.
Actually...
Crazy Cow, want to make something posssible?
You see, Dutchling here has two pending fights.
Perhaps we could make it into a huge two-team brawl!
DUTCHLING & CRAZY COW
VS
ARHA & MELKOR!!
BUY YOUR TICKETS NOW!

Why not? Go for it.

This has a really awesome Warhammer-esque feel, and I would love to join.
Once the Animal Men are uploaded, I will most likely switch to them.

DF Dwarf Mode Discussion / Re: Badger: The New Carp?
« on: May 01, 2011, 08:55:09 am »
My strategy is to embark with a dorf with basic military skills and a full set of copper armor and a weapon. Any kind of armor is nearly impossible for vanilla critters do do damage through.
Long story short, however?
Yes.
