Fight using only socks as weapons.

Conquer a fort using only a single stepladder.

Geld every ruler of every civilization on the map.

Construct a fully automatic weapon using cockroaches as ammo.

Reloading simply needs to be a separate option, and must be optional.

Crossbow was used that way - often, a salvo was fired at the beginning, and then swords were drawn and the troops clashed in melee. Makes no sense trying to pull the crank while the enemy is upon you.

Or better yet - shoot one bolt, throw the crossbow at the nearest enemy, and draw your melee weapon. Should be possible.

Interesting devlog, the fruit harvesting will bring great additions to the game.

What a cleverly placed stepladder will do to the pathfinding of a charging goblin? We just have to wait and see.

Next up.  Certainly before the next version is worked on.

I would not hold by breath. AFAIK next in line is "fruit harvesting".

Got deep vein thrombosis this May in my left leg, and after treatment, the doctor's prediction is: "It will only get worse". Damned leg hurts whenever I sit more than a couple of hours.
