Isn't that just the portal thing that takes you back to your spawn point? (After rolling the credits)

My level 25 Argonian stealthy guy is seriously underpowered combat wise. :(  I lockpicked, stole and pickpocketed every single lock, gem and coin in Whiterun and ended up gaining way too many levels purely on pickpocketing, sneaking and lockpicking.
Also smithing, because the best way to get rid of stolen gems if crafting them into jewellery.
On the other hand, he is seriously overpowered stealth-wise and can take on almost any enemy with careful planning and a cozy place to hide.

Also, does anyone know when/how you can forge the ledgers you find in shops?

Visiting the same location twice doesn't mean a broken sequence.  I did the same thing without the sneaking and ended up already having the dragonstone when asked for it. The dialogue recognized the possibility too so I even got a compliment out of it.

Bah, my game crashes at a very specific point in one of the first Mage Guild quests, and I can't find a way around it. :(
Edit: Found a fix!  Check the spoiler.

Other than that the game looks gorgeous and I am having oodles of fun blasting flames at everything that moves. Ooh, a bunny! Woosh.

Anyone seen this? It's pretty neat.  Basically people are making tiny pixelated videos in vanilla Minecraft now.
Almost as awesome as that guy that used redstone to program a Minecraft-like game in Mincraft.

Shouldn't we be making a seperate thread about the issue of discussing mods in the main Minecraft thread?

I agree with Briggsy16 though, there is nothing stopping anyone from posting their latest creations, modded or unmodded, at any time they like.  The topic changes fluidly, just like it did when everyone started talking about splitting threads.
Actual Minecraft updates get posted here whenever they appear, and if you really want to keep up to date you can just check the http://www.minecraftforum.net/ website and Notch's Twitter.

A thread devoted to the Technic Pack specifically wouldn't hurt though. It's the one mod(pack) that everyone keeps talking about and it's complex and different enough to get its own thread.

I'm installing the game from the disc as I write this, occasionally sniffing the "fake old library"-scented map.
I thought it was going to be released tomorrow on the 11th, but then I realized that's a holiday here so the shop would be closed. so after checking the shop's website I walked on over and got the game, yay.

When I first started playing Minecraft I thought it would be neat to actually have pickaxes.

Swords take double damage when destroying blocks, so you'd burn through your diamonds pretty quickly.

If you download the C1toDS addon for Docking Station, it will add an 'Offline Mode' to new world screen.  You won't be able to go online, but everything else will work just fine.

The Biosphere mod won't work with mods that alter worldgen.
What about mods that just cause new ores to spawn like the copper/tin/etc?

I'm not 100% sure about those, but I do know the Biosphere mod radically changes the way the vanilla ores are distributed so it's still likely to be incompatible somehow.  In the best case you'd just have a really hard time finding/getting to the new ores.

That looks nice! Have you done packs for IC2, Buildcraft or BTW?
Cheers. I have but they all need updating. For IC2 someone has updated them for me.

I'm not sure how much work BTW will take to get updated. The last I released was for v2.92.

The RedPower2 stuff isn't finished but I have posted a WIP in my texture pack's topic. To save you digging for it here's the download.

You can find everything else by clicking the image bellow:

A double resolution graphics pack that stays faithful to the originals.

My twisted mind keeps reading that image mirrored.

Actually, you need redstone and lightstone dust in order to make a Philosopher's Stone, making Equivalent Exchange an extension of the current vanilla endgame. (Ignoring the lame Ender Pearl recipe of course)
You'll still have to get to redstone to do redstone stuff.

Yeah, it is pretty damn slow, but thats the problem with the method. Im fairly certain you get a better speed by setting up a 2/3 block quarry and having cobblestone generators with pistons constantly refill it to the highest level, so its technically the exact same as moving it to a new place.

Not really.  The drill will constantly move back to the first block every time it gets replenished, skipping blocks as it heads back to cube one. A regular quarry can keep mining at optimal efficiency unless it encounters a cave or bedrock because it never has to backtrack.
Perhaps if you use pistons to shove multiple cobblestones from different generators into the same 2 spots you could have the drill go back and forth between these two spots without losing time.

If you are assembling your own Technic Pack, the machines provided in the "full" version of the Redpower mod could prove much more efficient.  There is a 'Block breaker' machine that eagerly gobbles up any block placed in front of it, making for very efficient cobblestone harvesting.  And very, very inefficient tree harvesting. (But at least it's fully automated, woo!)
