The matchmaking is pretty terribad, though. I've yet to play in a game that stayed balance for more than two or three matches, and despite all the people that play no one seems to join a game in progress after a certain point.

Other than that, though, I'm enjoying it quite a bit.

Enjoy!

Swing by the Random Things you Drew thread some time if you want to show off some stuff you've made.

Looks like good sci-fi there. Not to nitpick, but where's all the water come from?

Will do. Expect a video by Monday or so, assuming it plays well with my recording software.

And thanks for the game! Came at the perfect time to cheer me up. :)

The demo is a pretty good indicator of what the game's like, and it's a good example of how to do a demo right.

You basically go through the tutorial, and once you get into the open world you get a time limit. I remember it being an hour or something, plenty of time to get a good taste of the game.

It felt like an MMO with the multiplayer cut out. I got to the open world bit and quit, so I may not be the best source of advice.

Oooh, scathing political commentary meets the world of magic.

And it's still a steaming load.

Day Z, from what I've heard, is fine, it's just very alpha and not for everyone. Rust is kind of a Day Z clone from what I've seen, but it's got building. I'd look at some videos before deciding on either, but they're more hardcore survival porn* than simulation.

Space Engineers is a game where you make a space ship out of assorted parts and crash them into each other. There's more planned, naturally, but it's mostly just screwing around right now.

*Not literal porn, but Rust does have nudity if you enable it.

Even if you had a coordinated team moving in behind the MAXes, charge would work better since the MAXes wouldn't be walking C4 bait. They'd be able to rush in and start shotgunning the silly out of anything red or purple while the rest of the squad moves in to mop up, avoiding any serious casualties because the MAXes will have everyone's attention. If the MAXes survive long enough to recharge their Charge, they can Charge right back out if things start going sour.

For the sake of its versatility, Charge is awesome.

Wacom's definitely the best quality out there, and their prices are decent and cover just about every budget. From what I understand the only major compromise you'll be making with cheaper Wacom tablets is size and the number of features you get.

I have one of their mid range tablets and couldn't be happier with it.

I hate how money works in this game. It seems like the only reason is exists is to be a really hamfisted punishment for dying. So they give you the choice of risking your earned pixels if you die, or guaranteeing loss but protecting against excessive loss from dying.

It's dumb and I hate it. Especially considering how easy it is to work around. Since my main source of pixel income is from sticking stuff into a refinery, I just carry a refinery and some assorted ores around with me and stick them in when I want to buy or make something. I have, at most, a thousand pixels on me at any given time because I just happened to pick them up from monsters I've killed. If I need to, however, I could spend a minute refining ores and get 10k or more pixels without risking a single thing.

So yeah. You should just be able to stick pixels into storage and be done with it. Have certain merchants or crafting environments only exist in dangerous areas and it'll force you to risk losing pixels to get to them. Compressing pixels should give you a slightly devalued, but viable and no-loss-on-death currency - It would work exactly the same as pixels in that you can buy stuff with it (And pixels will be spent first), but you lose some pixels turning it into the no-loss-on-death currency.

Boom, problem solved, and it's not nearly as hamfisted and actually benefits game play with proper risk and reward.

Which reminds me, the ZOE would completely break flamethrowers. I remember hearing they were going to release them around the same time as or right after the ZOE got released, but ZOE just turned flamethrowers into walking instagib madness.

So, fun fact about low gravity planets: Fish will occasionally just float right up out of the water and fly around in the air. Pretty funny.

Asteroid fields are also awesome once you get the gear to survive in them. So many diamonds...

new continent
I have not heard of this, please elaborate?

While I'm talking about that, it looks like you have a lot of  kills from your AI max weapons Knight of Fools, so that may also be boosting your KDR. On another note, how are you liking the NS-11A? I haven't tried it myself, just curious.

Yeah, Hossin. It's going to be some swamp continent, and I'm hoping they're taking all the things they learned from updating the other continents and making it awesome.

And pretty much any of the NS weapons rock. Low recoil, good accuracy, and a sizeable magazine? It's no contest most of the time.

And I know my MAX stuff is bumping my K/D ratio. If you're curious, before I used it regularly it hung around 2.67, I think, but it's still something silly I'm proud of. And a surprising number of those kills are opposing MAXes - Most VS MAXes expect me to skiddadle the moment they ZOE around the corner. I can usually take them out without reloading.

Oh, are we posting our characters now?

My Score/Minute is pretty bad because I spend a lot of time dinking around/flanking, but my K/D ratio is pretty good for someone who only plays infantry. It's not that I'm good or anything, far from it. I just play to survive, not to get kills.

Maybe when the new continent comes out I'll bump it up to a solid 3.0, if I haven't lost it from not playing for so long...
