General Discussion / Re: Things that made you go "WTF?" today o_O

Math is pretty interesting to me when I have the time and energy to get interested and understand it, and I have very little of either to spare my math course right now, with a load of four summer classes and a job... It's almost painful. I can still enjoy the heck out of math, and will probably still minor in it.

Still, I'm not taking an online math course ever again. Even bad teachers are better than no teacher. Literally all he does is post the due dates and put our grades in the system. I'm not sure why I'm even paying for this.  ::)

Numbers? In Calculus?

Spoiler (click to show/hide)

In the grimdark world of Calculus, there is only war and the laughter of thirsting gods.

screw my plans for a degree in math

Man, precalculus is hard. I rarely get so burned out from crunching numbers.

That's been my major issue with the Total War series: It's obvious they use some sort of map editor to make everything, but they don't make a public version.
Speak of the devil!

That's what I was referring to when I said "nifty".

It doesn't have a Campaign Map Editor, though, which is what I'd really want.

Aren't those "you can't sue me" deals laughingly easy to get around? I had the idea that they simply exist to evade frivolous lawsuits, or they're void if the company endangers or discriminates in some way.

I wouldn't recommend having more family members than you need. The ones you don't control wander around doing nothing, and any money pickpockets steal from them is taken from you.

Hope you don't catch the plague. There's very rarely a cure available for it, unless you've happened to build up a hospital by yourself.

Renaissance did clear up most of the major bugs from earlier ones, though. I don't recommend any of the others, since Renaissance includes just about everything and is comparatively less buggy.

Meh. I was just disappointed when it wasn't actually about Prometheus stealing fire from the gods.

And keeping the jewelry for himself, of course.

Okay, I understand. I thought they were charging for something that was already there. You will still be able to play as the Muslims as they are now, but if you get the DLC you'll be able to get the new stuff.

That makes a lot more sense.

Worth getting it for a sale for a quick run through - I've got 31 hours on the entire series. It certainly had a lot of potential that it didn't fill, but there are few games with such an interesting political/economic advancement system, complete with spying that makes sense and trials that make things interesting. You could make a living off of bringing people to court.

However, several things make the lost potential very sharp. Limits the maps present (Nowhere to build anything, all resources already claimed at the beginning of the game), the lackluster RPG system (Stats were horribly unbalanced, traits were far too limited), the limit of controlling 3 characters at a time (And general family issues), and the tediousness of certain professions... They did some things right that are rarely done and managed to pull them off, but, like many games, it's more known for what it lacked than what it accomplished.

Interesting

Not letting us play Muslims? Fine.

Letting us play Muslims if we mod the game? Cool.

Releasing a paid DLC to play Muslims, while disabling the ability to play Muslims with mods? WTF R U SRS

Is it possible to disable updates? I don't play Muslims, but just on principle.

While it makes plenty of sense to have lots of paperwork, what exactly did you do to require so much to surprise him with?
Got into a case against him.

I mean come on, if your superpower is being able to churn out loads of paperwork, wouldn't you use it whenever possible?

It'd be even better if you could turn all the paperwork into ninja stars.
