Streaming a game of a 1x1 embark, I will be streaming continuously on and off for a few days or until this fort dies. Come and enjoy lots of FUN with elephants everywhere apparently. The entire screen consists of the entire embark zone, doing a 1x1 for shits and giggles.

The above fortress was horribly slaughtered by a lot of elephants.

-It's missing the last 7 minutes because the cutoff is 2 hours, so 7 mins was by itself and it was useless, just the last guy still throwing all these tantrums until he died. Nothing else happened.

We are now embarking into a scorching 4x4 embark.
Nope nevermind, one alligator killed everyone.

We are currently embarked in some wooded area, fort is going well, though we only really have silver and copper for metals it seems. Magma caldera was found at level -23, seems to be like mt saint helens, adamantine was found in the magma sea under it. We've had 1 goblin ambush. About 5 deaths so far.

The beginning.
They didn't know it was a snowy land. Scouts had zoned the area deemable so they had gone there, but when they arrived on their spot, it was a complete wasteland of snow and trees. They started to get to work, clearing trees for lumber, and digging out the ground one level below to try to set up areas for food, water, dining, and meeting related purposes. Things were going well and they decided to start working on the stairwell and started heading down into the earth, planning to reach a 9th floor. While digging the stairwell they eventually broke the ground and found a massive cavern system, the stairwell opening into a 3-4 story fall. Afraid of the possible monsters from within without proper defense they tried to remove the stairwell to prevent others from possibly falling into the cavern. Ironically the stairwell was somewhat removed, not thinking to mine out the area around the stairs so that they could be safely removed, the miner that was removing them fell into the abyss of the cavern, crunching into the ground 3 floors below with the torso taking most of the impact. Her copper pick clattered aside and she lay there completely stunned. The impact bruised her guts dearly, making her nauseous, while shattering a finger in her left hand and having the nervous tissue in the middle of her spine torn apart. Some of her blood was on the floor below her and on the wall in front of her. She remained there, heaving in pain before suffocating to death due to her lungs failing. They walled off the stairs. At least they had something to be happy about, as the snow had by now, melted away.

Part 1.
The fortress was expanded, finally developing a farm and so on, and receiving a wave of migrants or two. The new additions were welcomed for the numerous hauling jobs that were needed and life went on. A working water reservoir, a nice barracks, a brewery, a finished dining hall, an underground wood-shop, mining expeditions begun, things were going good. However something had to be done. Anony, the woodcutter, was asked to be the militia commander with her axe-dwarf experience. She gladly accepted the new responsibility and decided to put a tiny squad together with the new migrants to try and finally recover the body of the miner who fell to her death months prior. They started to embark down the stairs, but Anony disappeared.  The two fisherman who had been drafted did not notice and continued to go down the newly built wing of stairs to recover the body and go to the body with a few workers. It was only a partial skeleton now, but it was still to be given a proper burial. However, with a high pitched screech, a giant bat loomed over their heads and flew right up the stairs, chasing one of the fisherman draftees who was returning to find the Militia Commander. The bat had caught up and started to viciously attack him on the mining level. The draftees only had their fists to fight unfortunately, so he started to swing at the bat, but this only caused the giant bat to go after his hands. After a few seconds of swinging, his hands were leaking heavy amounts of blood as they had been torn open and the arteries were opened as well, pools of blood underneath the two and splattering the walls as they fought. Eventually the fight was brought to the main stairwell where the fisherman jumped and kicked the bat in the head hard enough to shove the skull inwards on itself into the brain which tore it apart. The bat finally fell dead. Everyone finally stopped freaking out and watched him try to pick the body up, but miserably failing to pick anything up with his mangled hands. Someone else eventually carried it out, while Anony returned from hiding, having turned tail earlier. The draft makeshift squad was disbanded now that the issue was gone and Anony continued to hold her Militia Commander role, but people are thinking now, The Fish Dissector deserves it more then the one who ran away. The Fish Dissector had crushed a giant bat with his bare hands, when his bare hands were completely mangled. He had won glory, Blood for Armok, and the first kill of Bloodyages of Harvest. However with his hands completely mangled and with all his loss of blood, he failed to pick up food or water for himself, and has been feeling feint. But others have decided to help him. Anony merely stared the man down in jealousy.
The body recovered, and buried right next to the stairs she died trying to remove.

(After looking at the Oilfurnace comic again, I thought it was interesting in the job giving he did for the dwarves there, and I decided to try it out as well.)

The Naming System:
Everyone is given a dystopian ID name. It is 5 digits, consisting of 1 letter followed by 4 numbers. The letter is based upon what migration it is, Starters are A, 1st wave B, 2nd wave C, etc. The four digit number is completely random generated, but no two in the same generation shall receive the same number, ie., there will be no duplicate IDs. In the result of surviving to letter Z and beyond, the process will start over at A again. In the result that somehow, a dwarf in the migration must receive a duplicate ID, the previous one, will be killed for failing to sacrifice himself to the greater good.

When a resident should reach LEGEND status in any proficiency needed or un-needed, He will receive a true name, and is finally acknowledged as a fellow comrade. Becoming a comrade does not guarantee any form of nobility, or noble position. Becoming a comrade will however provide benefits of more luxury and having a higher priority for safety and security. Becoming a comrade or dying are the only ways in which you have finally sacrificed yourself to the greater good, and as such, our god will grant you your desires. Becoming a comrade will guarantee that we will attempt to place your body in a coffin. Being an undesirable will still provide the chance of having your body dumped into a pit, or onto an undesired location with a mass burial dump.

Failure in any way that hampers the greater good will be punished. The current leader of the embark shall receive the title of, God. Failure to worship god, will result in punishment. God may break any rule. God is great. God is best.
