Forum Games and Roleplaying / Reign of the Dragon Empress (SG/Quest)
« on: December 23, 2016, 10:37:16 pm »
The year is 108 Imperial Ascension (1154 Standard Calendar, SC for short.), The forces of the dragon empress have conquered the lands of what was formerly the realms of Iavhlis. It's armies, after years of small skirmishes and raids, decisively smashing through the forces arrayed against it and utterly destroying the realms, scattering the peoples of the Iavhlian realms to the four winds and ensuring that the realms rested fully in the hands of the empire.

Now, the dust settles from the conflict. While the land is conquered, the sheer devastation and depopulation requires more people to colonise the bare, if developed territory.

You are one of those granted land within the new territories, in return for faithful service in the empress' armies or as a chance for a new life in a relatively new land.

CHARACTER SHEET:
-Mandatory Fields
Name: (Make it sound good please.)
Species/Race: [Drow/Kobold/Dwarf/Orc/Hobgoblin] (Some species may be limited in Character Creations options, check the Races spoiler for more info)
Sex: [Male or Female]
Class: [Lower/Middle/Upper]
Age: (Something reasonable dependant on species. AKA no kids or old people :P )
Half Dragon: [Yes/No] (While almost certainly more powerful, this option carried a much greater difficulty.)
Service to the Empire: [Veteran of the War/Assigned Administrator/Fresh Landholder/Other] (If you guys can think of another good reason for the land grant, put it down and mark it being a non-standard option by putting other in parenthesis)

-Optional fields (A sheet with these filled will be more likely to be chosen than a sheet without.)

Forum Games and Roleplaying / You are King: New Realms: IC Thread
« on: January 01, 2014, 09:55:01 am »
This thread here is the main game thread. Most of the rules and such are in the OOC thread, thus it's required to read (And post a sheet in) before coming here.

Spoiler: Map (click to show/hide)

Link to OOC thread: http://www.bay12forums.com/smf/index.php?topic=134404.0

DO NOT POST HERE UNLESS YOU HAVE POSTED THE SHEET IN THE OOC THREAD AND HAVE IT APPROVED BY THE GM (Me)

IN ADDITION, NO ONE IS TO POST HERE BEFORE IITUEM DOES. ONCE HE HAS YOU MAY POST.

I will update this post, and the one below it at every season change, so that any readers can easily find the season updates, and players can find the seasonal events quickly at short notice.

Forum Games and Roleplaying / You are King: New Realms: OOC Thread
« on: December 17, 2013, 10:28:49 pm »
What is this about:

You are King is a game of political intrigues, feudal warfare and so forth. This is a multi-player game, and there are no hard player limits, though land can become scare depending on how many players there are

Mechanics
These form the skeleton of the game. If you're trying to do something outside of these, it's either role-playing, or I have to make some new rules up on the spot. Either way, it is rather relaxed in what you can do. The basis of this system is a simple d6 (Or several) in RtD style, with each increment on the dice representing varying degrees of success, to the point where you overdo things on a hard 6

Spoiler: Combat Mechanics (click to show/hide)

Spoiler: Economics mechanics (click to show/hide)

Spoiler: Character creation (click to show/hide)

Spoiler: Character sheet (click to show/hide)

World creation and conduct rules:

The world is yours to seemingly shape as you see fit in character creation (Stupid ideas will be shot down via GM veto though.). This includes races, culture and the map itself, however, there are a few things that should be noted:

-The world is one of high fantasy. As such, different races are able to be played. This does not mean they cannot be diverse (Humans being the diverse species in a setting is something I loathe >.>). Depending on the kingdom, some areas will be rather cosmopolitan as well. Stereotypes are bound to exist though, regardless of the species/race.

-Magic exists, but NO player may become a mage, end of story. This is to keep the focus on politics rather than a magic dick-waving contest. Most magic will also be restricted to "Passive" roles as well, being used to enchant items and aid society on a whole, though a few small spells exist for self-defense purposes.

Now, for conduct: These rules exist to keep an OOC notion of fair play, and to head off disputes before they come up.
-NO metagaming. This one can be hard to avoid, and hard to judge. Make sure you would have IC knowledge of something before you react to it however (Rather public events would be certain to be known by everyone though.)

-NO PMed actions. This is a (Largely) co-operative game, you shouldn't need to the ability to try backstabbing every other player. However there are two things that are the exception: Plotting and PvP ambushes. In the former case. All message MUST be sent to me as well as the recipient, this is to let me keep an eye on a plot, and keep the more impossible ones out. In the latter case, the ambusher is allowed to send their initial battle orders to me via PM. After the trap has been sprung, the ambusher must post their actions normally.

With everything else, I assume you'll make decisions in good judgement in regards to the matter, though I maintain the right to kick out any player whom routinely brings up content not appropriate for the game, picks fights or otherwise acts belligerently in OOC, or makes a joke in referenced to an overused meme.

With that, I now let you create and post your sheets, along with ideas for the races inside the kingdom and the constituent culture of the kingdom itself, along with any religions and so forth. The region the kingdom will be in is forthcoming however, so please try not to make any assumptions about it (The climate of such, you can however.)

<Opening crawl goes here>

The Squad assembles within the staging ground of the barracks upon the forest moon of endor, the facility of which has been plagued by the despicable natives; The EWOKS. Your lieutenant has ordered you onto the staging area to await his arrival. He intends to give his orders in person, thus the rare opening of free time allows the assembled troopers to talk amongst one another while they waited....

Spoiler (click to show/hide)

"The battle of Yavin 4 was a disaster for the empire: The loss of the death star, numerous moffs and untold amounts of resources and manpower due to several rebel starfighters is an outrage that we will answer. It has only been a few standard months since that battle, but we will bounce back. Our task here is of great importance to the empire, we guard the construction site for the new shield generator here on endor in preparation for the next death star to be built. They rebels think they struck a blow against us, but all they have done is hastened their doom.

Though that isn't the time for that speech, since due to some native disturbances to the construction of the shield complex, we've been ordered to take care of this annoyance. Use whatever means necessary to eradicate this problem. Dismissed!" -Stormtrooper Lieutenant Vannas Sai-Kellal

As the lieutenant said, you're part of the detachment on endor guarding the shield generator as it's being constructed. Of course, the locals, known as ewoks, have taken to pelting the machinery with rocks, and stealing various tools and supplies from the worksite, and the garrison commander has had enough of this (And trying to save his own hide at the same time). To this end, your squad is being sent you into the wilds of Endor to suppress and eliminate the impudent natives who dare stand against the might of the empire.

As a play by post game, I will try to run atleast a turn daily. I would also advise reading up on the rules (Standard D&D ones, though anyone who wants the rulebook need just ask and I can see what I can do about that.). If you could, finding an appropriate image for me to convert into a token would be appreciated as I will be using maptools to run and keep track of the battles.

Anyone that wishes to join, please use the sheet below for your convenience, and check the rule changes. Leveling-wise, I'll be mostly using GM fiat, which means you don't have to worry about tracking EXP. There won't be much opportunity to obtain new gear (Though you already have the best the empire has to offer, so that's not necessary), and another thing to note that you are stormtroopers; you wouldn't be on endor at all if you showed any resentment on how the empire ran and whatnot (So please, no idealists that want to run off to the rebellion >.>)

Now, the character sheet should be filled out for completion (Which just needs name and gender for now, along with a choice of primary weapon.), please post the completed sheet in the thread (Spoiled for length as well, if you could), and I'll link them into the playerlist when that's up.

As a few of the rules don't quite make sense, or just seem out of place, I will be changing a few around. They ARE subject to change though, so keep an eye out on this section.

Alright, I've had this idea floating around for a little while now, so, I thought I'd give it a whirl. The basic premise of this is giving the group a ship and letting you explore the galaxy as you see fit.

The worldbuilding, for the most part, is to let you create your own species and such (And save me some of the work in the process. And I like seeing everyone else's work.)

Setting-wise, the sci-fi is relatively soft. Psionics do exist, on varying levels of power. Space combat is a little bit more realistic than most settings. Carriers, for example, aren't as useful due to the distances involved and the ranges of most ship-borne weaponry. Manned fighter craft are also right out for space combat, though piloted atmospheric fighter craft are still used. I have my own civilisation ready to go, as well as what situation humanity is in, but I'll put that in the post below.

Anyway, I need one player to be the ship's owner/captain. You get free reign on the ship within reasonable limits (AKA no MilSpec stuff, nor anything too overpowered.) Same goes for the characters as well. You aren't high-profile celebrities or high ranking members of military and/or politicians, nor do you know anyone like that outside the news.

Anyway, a basic character sheet is below. Anyone submitting a race, planet or empire is welcome to do so in a format that they think is good, as long as it's readable.

I require atleast a paragraph of background before I'll accept a player. If you have some plot details that you wish to discuss with me, either in character creation or while the game is running with your character in it, feel free to PM me.

Forum Games and Roleplaying / Fire Emblem: Mystic Plague. (OPEN)
« on: August 22, 2012, 08:42:03 pm »
For centuries, the continent of Oroavac has lived in relative peace, unthreatened by war or famine. Now, a new threat stirs beneath the earth, the dead have started rising within the kingdom of Aeratus, and seems to be spreading towards it's neighbors. The Kingdoms of Caenan, Traennerus and Aeliyr along with the merchant republic of Shossan and the Theocracy of Touxar.

Though this has little to do with you. You are travelling towards castle Eraklelai in the kingdom of Traennerus, in order to meet with the king about a very important task that he's needs volunteers for: Escorting the royal heir to the duke of Zathael's castle at Kaever. The reward for this promises to be high: Wealth, honour and even possible induction into the royal guard.

So here you are, outside the King's chambers awaiting an audience with him about this task...

Welcome to Fire Emblem: Magic Plague!

The starting time will be around 6PM EST on Wednesdays We'll be using maptools b86 to play the game itself.

You'll need the handbook linked in the spoiler below in order to create your characters.

I will be GMing, along with KujiUn and Haika assisting me as Co-GMs. Us three will be playing the lords of the campaign, along with the nuber of foes, friends and other things that the group shall come across.

The Nations of Oroavac.
The Kingdom of Aeratus is known for its well trained army and military might. They inhabit a land filled with humid jungle, and sticky marshlands. The harsh landscape teems with life, but requires a strong will and resolve to survive. They have been content to patrol their own lands and keep to themselves, but rumors of dark magic and the dead rising from the grave have begun to surface.

The Kingdom of Caenan is a land of wide plains and rolling pasturelands. This provides excellent breeding area for horses, and Caenan steeds are saught far and wide. The nomadic knights of the Caenan calvary patrol the grasslands and keep the Kingdom safe from invasion.

The Kingdom of Traennerus is filled with many large forests and wooded hillsides. The men of Trae are usually strong bulky individuals from living in the forest wilds. A sharpshooter from Traennerus is usually considered one of the best, and most infantry of any type can give Aeratus a run for their money. However, the Trae consider animals food, and would rather hunt them than train any sort.

The Kingdom of Aeliyr is known for it's air superiority. Here the twin soldier forces of Wyvern Riders and Pegasus Knights train, and work together to keep Aeliyr's mountain home free from any invaders. Aeliyr mages are also known as some of the best wind users, rivaling even the Theocracy for skill.

The Merchant Republic of Shossan is a group of like minded people looking to make money in any way possible. Most of the other nations look down on people from Shossan, but they all use and appreciate their skilled thieves and mercenaries in their armies. Shossan is situated along the coast and claims most of the waterways around Oroavac for their trade routes.

The Theocracy of Touxar is the home of the university of Touxar. The university is the largest collection of the wisest mages and priests in the known world. Any mage worth his stuff has at least planned to attend the university eventually, however the long treck to the secluded desert kingdom is harsh for any power-less applicants.

Forum Games and Roleplaying / Days of Tension

2027: The world has changed dramatically after the revolutions in the middle east and africa. The coup in Australia cut the world into two parts, China's economy has risen exponentially after switching to a services-based economy. The US slides ever downward into becoming the monsters it once fought in the second world war. Europe has started to rebuild after the financial crisis left them shattered. Africa seems to be on the verge of a new era, though nobody knows where it'll lead. The middle east has freed itself from it's dictators, but tensions have resparked with Israel over Palestine.

The world looks like it'll implode with infighting in a decade, though in Australia, something is about to spark...
