Life Advice / Re: The Generic Computer Advice Thread

Ok so i got a P44 gamepad for PC and PS3 with analog triggers.
http://genesis-zone.com/en/product/p44-gamepad-2/
It genuinely feels nice and solid (not heavy tho) and unlike my old pad it does not give a feeling that it's going to shake itself apart every time vibration comes on.

Now the problem with this specimen is that... while it has analog trigger buttons i can't make them work no matter what i try.
I tried x360ce and it detected the triggers as regular buttons (not analog) and my attempts at setting them as half sliders/axis were met with failure.

Since it uses direct input when connected to a PC i assume it just can't use analog with a PC and the feature only works with PS3...

Does anyone have any experience with setting up d-input gamepads?

Makes you wonder if civilians can openly ask a viper or sectoid for directions... or interact with them the way you probably could with a policeman.
After all both seem to walk in broad daylight on most early missions.

I kinda doubt it since not even advent troopers seem to speak anything vaguely resembling human speech and relying on alien barks instead.
How do you know they're not just communicating in alien to avoid tipping you off what their plans are?
Because they speak in alien gibberish when they stop people at checkpoints.
Seen in gatecrasher when Bradford gets inspected for example.

Other Games / Re: Civilization VI was just announced!

I got burned when i bought a game of the year edition just to get informed that the edition does not in fact house all of the expansions.
instead i got a bunch of pointless nations and a random map generator or something.
And knowing them buying civ6 will equate to just getting the demo since all the features previous games had will be reintroduced at a later date for an exorbitant amount of money.

Yeah but you'd think that whatever specialists they have at valve would take the best option available.
And in this case what they chose/made is sub par.

I just assume that a version of the OS cut down to be almost 100% about running games yet is worse than windows at actually doing so is a dead ringer for "not really all that good for running games".

I'd like to point out that SteamOS that's based on linux had terribad performance in tests.

It might have improved since last time i checked tho.

*granted, the sectoid belongs in a hybrid horror movie/sex comedy.  Lewd ragdolls for days.
Speaking of, note the genders of the rulers.

'zerkers were always female to Firaxis, you could have heard it in streams and such, and they have a Queen correspondingly.

Vipers have a king. Make of that what you will.

I'd like to point out that the king compared to regular vipers is pretty flat chested

FYI your link leads to the Japanese store page for the game.

I've never heard of Rollcage until now, I take it it wasn't very popular? I noticed it was on Playstation so it was probably overshadowed by Twisted Metal and other similar games.
Right now there's several other game I want to get around to playing, but I'll keep this one in mind.
I did it on purpose wondering if anyone would notice.

And yeah it wasn't that big of a rage since it suffered the fate as Odyssey to the West that came out sandwiched between hotter titles.
Still it is indeed something to have an eye out for.
It might not quite be worth the 16 Yuro with only 2 cars and 3 tracks (one finished one mostly finished and the third barely playable and full of glitches) and the option to set the tracks to mirror and reverse mode to give the players more tracks to fool around in (kudos to them making the tracks work perfectly fine in reverse in the first place).
And you would be buying with the idea that the game would be some day complete... so it's kinda like Star Citizen i guess... only less greedy.

I wanted to install linux once and watched some tutorials.

Then i saw a guy ecstatic because youtube videos work.
And he could even run Homeworld... with 15 fps or so.

I'm sure things got better since then but honestly Linux would be my last resort in case Microsoft starts asking me to give them my bank account info or else it won't even turn on.
That or a steam box coupled with an Win XP laptop for work.

Sooo... a priest from a village that's pretty near my home town said that he will grant absolution to people that kill those protesters.
Fun times.

Spoiler (click to show/hide)
TBH i have no idea what's the deal with Trump.

All i know is that he wants to shut/strengthen the border with mexico... which is something a free country is fully entitled to do especially since USA has no legal obligations towards Mexico.
If Germany decided to lock its border with Poland and kick out poles who are already in that would be worthy of an uproar because both countries are part of Schengen and the EU and tied to EU law.
US on the other hand is fully entitled to lock down any border they damn please.

Also hey an era that wasn't covered by gaming that well so points for originality.
Am I weird for wanting an FPS set in the Thirty Years' War?
Mount & Blade + Mods + FPP camera.
