Mafia / Re: Power Hungry Mafia - D3 - Game over, town and survivor win!

I appreciate the effort.

Also pleased that Imic made TWS kill himself :)) thought there was something up with him, had no idea how to attack it :-\

Honestly, people like Trump is why I prefer parliamentary systems to presidential systems. You guys have a collective brain fart and are stuck with someone like that for at least 4 years. In Australia, we ended up with Tony Abbott, and they managed to get rid of him in less than 2 years. There's also the fact that ministers here are all elected officials. Our guys can't just bring in some tobacco lobbyist and put them in charge of the department of health.

Y'all forgot to say that if we did manage to get rid of Trump, we get Pence instead!

10038
You know the real reason you guys lost is for things like what you are suggesting now.
That you want to disregard the US democratic process? Not a good way to get support.

As opposed to saying the election is rigged during the election campaign?

So, thoughts on this format.  Would you want to play in another?  Should something about the format change?  I noticed no one wanted to gamble on the mystery abilities.

I enjoyed this. The excess of revivals probably helped town a bit.

As an addendum to the prison statistics thing: that was for all aliens, legal or otherwise. Other folk pointed that out I believe...

The unfortunate thing is we aren't "just saying", seeing as he has said a lot of pretty racist and sexist things over the past year, including saying that Mexico is sending all its rapists and drug dealers and murderers to America, that Megyn Kelly can't perform her duties as a moderator because she was on her period, and saying he can get away with sexually abusing women because he's famous.

We could provide links if you want?
"including saying that Mexico is sending all its rapists and drug dealers and murderers to America"
Not all and it isn't some Mexican conspiracy, illegal immigrants do have significantly higher violent crime rates than US citizens. Saying that make me racist too?

You are if you believe that without having looked into it, or providing numbers.

You did provide numbers! Awesome.

How about stats, from the US GAO? http://www.gao.gov/assets/320/316959.pdf
Now, take the rates and compare them to these (which does not separate Illegals/nonillegals): https://ucr.fbi.gov/crime-in-the-u.s/2014/crime-in-the-u.s.-2014/tables/table-43

So, assuming that crime rates have been relatively constant (they have been in a slow decline, since forever):
Divide the GAO numbers by the number of years covered in the report (this varies) and divide them against the FBI numbers to get the rate of US crime committed by illegals.
Give about a 10 point margin of error because none of us aren't going to do a full statically analysis.

Tell me about how stats are racist too.

... what?

You do realise that the statistics you used in the first thing were for all criminal aliens in prison? And that they bear no relation at all to the second, seeing as that's the prison population for everyone? Particularly considering that the first set is from 09/10, and the FBI ones are from 2014...

Looking at just the numbers for the first one, there were 55k aliens in federal prison in 2010, and 296,000 in state/local prisons in '09. Add them together, get 347,000. It says in the GAO study the alien population in the US was 25.3m  in '09. That gives as an incarceration rate of 1.37%. This allows me to move onto a rebuttal for you to peruse.

"Megyn Kelly can't perform her duties as a moderator because she was on her period"
He was making fun of her. Makes him an ass, not a sexist. I didn't care the Bill got a BJ, I don't care that Trump makes fun of people. I care about policy.

He was joking so much he tried to have her removed as a moderator for another debate, and then decided not to appear on said debate.

Sounds like he was taking it very seriously.

"When you are a star you can do it, they'll let you do anything. Grab 'em by the pussy. They'll let you do anything."
Crude and bragging sure, but correct social commentary. Funny enough, in the same tape, right after a woman comes up and encourages him to man handle her.

Maybe we have different views of right and wrong. If girl is totally ok you what you are doing, even if it's just because you are rich, that is fine.

I'm not sure what you're trying to say here. Because a handful of women wouldn't mind being manhandled by a celebrity, it's alright he thinks he can do anything to all women?

Not to mention the many cases of sexual assault of which he's been accused.

10042
But that's just it. He's being largely excused because he hides behind a thin veil of civility. Yet, everyone knows exactly what he's implying. It's a game of lies. When I want to call someone out, I actually CALL THEM OUT instead of pretending to be the victim, because if I weren't open and honest about it, I really WOULD be as horrible and manipulative as they are. This game needs to stop.

You called him out by calling him a name. Which is quite hypocritical, when you called him out for calling people names.

Unlikely you support someone who hates you.

Ok lets put it another way.

Trump won those people over IN SPITE of the fact that he is racist, and sexist, and is a bigot, and is morally bankrupt, and has a VP nobody likes...

Because people chose "Make American Great Again", they didn't chose the racism part of what Trump said.

Well ok sort of... A lot of Americans were for the racism part...
You can keep on saying, "he is racist, and sexist, and is a bigot." However, saying something doesn't make it true.

Morally Bankrupt... https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=cCDzRtZLUkc

And he has a VP nobody cares about, because nobody cares about any VP.

You guys still pushing the racist, sexist thing?

Trump got 1/3 of the minority vote and 1/2 of the female vote. He also got the majority of the white vote who previously voted for Obama.

Because minorities voting for a racist ceases to make them racist? Women voting for a sexist ceases to make them sexist?

Unlikely you support someone who hates you.

That's not explaining how Trump is neither racist or sexist. How does the opinions of the groups you mention mean Trump has not indulged in racist or sexist rhetoric during the campaign?

Please don't respond like that, and please nobody respond in kind...

10046
It's dumb 'cause it won't really change anything.
The statement itself is still important though. "A racist sexist huckster got elected president of the US, so we got out and protested to show how much we thought it was bullshit" vs "A racist sexist huckster got elected president of the US, and we just kinda said 'eh'". I'm all for people putting the bulk of their effort into things that matter more, but protests are very visible and visibility counts.

Yes and no. It's good that people think that having him as president is probably not a good thing based on the racist sexist platform, but if all they're doing is throwing a tantrum, it's not so good.

If it encourages people to maybe fight back against his platform in more civil ways - donating to planned parenthood, volunteering their time and effort in various LGBT/immigrant rights things - then that's good. I guess it remains to be seen if that's going to happen, much like it remains to be seen if Trump is going to be as "gotta cut away the 'bad' shit Obama did"-crazy as his campaign suggested

10047
CNN reporting just shy of 400 people arrested nationwide last night in anti-Trump protests/riots. Tonight is expected to be worse.

Buckle up buckaroos.

Ok... NOW it is dumb :P

How is it dumb? Also, I heard it was more like 200. But yeah, it's only going to get worse, but the protests won't last forever because people have lives, except for those that don't really.

It's dumb 'cause it won't really change anything. If it does, it'll make it that after every election there'll be large-scale riots by the losers.

Anyhow, re: wierd's stuff about the EC being fairer than an alternative: not really.

You said at one point (can't be bothered finding it) that the US isn't a democracy and that one person =/= one vote... and you appear to think that's okay.

My preferred system would be a proportional allocation of the EC numbers based on the voting in each state. If the Republicans get 60% of a state, they get 60% of the EC votes. That would at least mean that candidates have to make an effort to court voters with their platforms, and voters that don't adhere to a state's voting patterns (D in CA, R in TX and so on) will be more inclined to come out and vote, 'cause then their vote actually means something.

Presently it's what, 12 states that get most of the attention because they can swing the vote? Those guys get all the power, and policies catered to their needs. Everyone else presently has to suck it up. If they benefit from it? Great! If not, tough cookies, you mean squat at crunch time.

Imic, 'cause we can't let an anti-town role go...

10049
That's not - for some bizarre reason - the vote that matters. In an essentially two-party race.

Why is that, again?

10050
Okay, so, anyone think there's going to be sustained campaigning at the electors?

At 290 ECV (Michigan technically hasn't been called yet, but it won't affect the results), you'd have to see more than 20 (36 if Michigan goes to Trump) electors revolt to change anything. The three that have already said they'd be faithless won't affect things and could still go ahead anyway as a protest. There would have to be a large number of nevertrump electors (whether coordinated or not) turning into faithless electors in order to affect things, and given the halfhearted protests in the Republican Convention, I doubt it.
Please let that actually happen...Please let that actually happen...
Despite my reservations regarding Trump, it's a big fucking step to say "see that election we had a few days ago? Yeah that doesn't count because we don't like the result."

Big precedent. Almost big league, you could say.
