Apparently horse is pretty close to beef. There was a big scandal over here in the Netherlands when one of our large meat companies was found out to sell horse steaks as beef. No one tasted the difference
And please don't eat dog. The countries that do eat dog meat aren't exactly known for having much interest in animal rights. The meat dogs are kept in the most abominable of conditions. If you insist on tasting dog, go to your local pet shelter and ask for some Scooby Doe roadkill. At least those had a better life than a dog bred for meat.
