Methinks it's the "won't let me help them" mentality. If people don't want to talk about their problems, no amount of unsolicited advice from an internet stranger is going to do it.

This is why I encourage the depressives to seek help, and not offer it myself. I also know how emotionally draining it is being someone's crutch and/or sounding board.
But that's what people have been doing and it doesn't work.
You just said yourself the opposite doesn't work either :P

Part of my issue with offering advice is it also enables "bad" behaviour.

Someone says they are shit and useless, someone else says no, Someone is not shit and useless. It's a pleasant feeling, that. Doesn't last long though, and the issues that make Someone feel shit and useless aren't dealt with. It becomes easier and easier to ignore the problem for the quick fix, low-shock, low-maintenance "I'm shit" "no you're not!" instead of facing up to what's behind Someone feeling like they're shit and useless.

This is why I always tell someone to talk about their issues. Depression doesn't just go away, and I won't enable a behaviour that does shit all to help in the long-run.

I can't punish you for editing your posts since you're already out the game :P

Probably best just to make another post though, in case someone misses an edit.

Cinder appears to be on the ball enough to not want to do it. This is good.

You do realize depression is a mental illness, yes? It doesn't have to make sense. Indeed, a lot of the time it fuckin' won't.

Anyhow, it's good you're also seeking help outside satisfying self-destructive urges GD.

He's a broken down old man after years of underground back-alley prizefights, during which time he killed a man for no reason I can think of this close to midnight on minimal sleep as it is.

So long as you aren't using us as a crutch to make you feel good about yourself. That's bad shizzle.

See, if his employers found this conversation, he'd be fired in a heartbeat.

On an entirely unrelated note, what's your name, where do you live and what's the name of all the local health clinics including hospitals, chairman poo?

Day 2

You sleep surprisingly well for the situation. You managed to find one of the two assassins, meaning half your job is done.

You quickly notice, however, not everyone is present. Teneb did not deign to show himself. You all decide to look for him.

It doesn't take long. You find him in his room, as dead as a doorknob, oddly peaceful despite the horrific look on his face.

You realise that the remaining assassin wasn't chastened by yesterday's events, and won't stop until you're all dead.

The blizzard outside continues, unabated, ignorant of the goings on within the inn...

Teneb was killed in the night. He was Town!

Death is never really good.

Ah, the fallacies of youth.
Get offa my damn lawn, you damned emo kid.
Too many damns, man.

But context: after watching my gran being in a huge amount of pain for the final week of her life, despite the doctors having her own fuck tons of morphine and other painkillers, I'd much rather she have been granted a quick death. Probably wouldn't have hurt any less for me and the rest of my family, but we would've at least been spared those memories.

Without death, I basically foresee the alternative being watching our loved one disappear into dementia as they age instead. No thank you.
