I'd be interested in that stuff, but I can't be bothered clicking a handful more times to get a PM to you :P

Hey, copy me on that, would you?  ;P

I'm honestly rather intrigued.
I'll make a note to send them to you. Got to read a text in medieval spanish right now while having a cold, and I hate everything about it.

Cheers dude. Feel better soon.

The conservatives earned 15 more seats than last time,  in the repeat election in Spain, despite rampart corruption, and evidence of using the security forces of the state in order to attack and discredit their political opponents. I'd never despaired so much after an election

Wasn't there also a government minister involved in trying to smear the leader of the Catalan Independence Party with, of all things, the Catalan anti-fraud official?

Edit: Ha! I do remember some things.

Happens. Probably... Don't think I've ever had four bugger up in quick succession, but ah well... I did have the air defense mission bugger up with one of the massive mods, kept getting my bottom handed to me :))

Good game though. Don't think I've played it beyond 1941 though...

Francis is a conciliarist, which is to say his position is one of decentralization, giving more power to the individual priest in a manner not dissimilar from the orthodox christians. Most popes tend to go in the opposite direction.

On heresy: according to the doctrine of the Catholic Church, heresy is having practices that are not of the Catholic (Universal) Church and saying they are the correct ones. So protestants are heretics. Orthodox (and maybe coptic?) christians get called schismatics instead because most differences are political. People who leave the religion are apostates.
Ahh, thank you.

Catholic Church does not into thoughtcrime.

It does punish for silly reasons though. Like divorce.

Let us not go down this road, prob'ly not the thread for it.

I don't know.  As sort of a boots on the ground report, I know the pastor of a Catholic church in my city actively supports allowing priests to conduct gay marriages.  And he did before it was cool.  Hopefully, there will be more like him post-Francis.
"Hopefully there will be more heretics post-Francis"

No

I'm not sure if Catholics supporting gay marriage is really heresy.

But then checking up on what heresy actually means, which is just disagreeing with "normal" practice... this is why I have great distaste for religion.

Well, Phillip Zimbardo got a bit too into his prison experiment and thought one of his subjects was faking illness and such in order to be "released" from prison, as opposed to be allowed to leave the experiment.

All the politicos are so very in touch with the desires of their electorate, after all.
