"One can never be too careful."
"Oh, but you can! Have you never heard? Far better to make the wrong move, than none at all."
"Being careful does not mean taking no action. It means taking more time to consider an action and its repercussions. The wrong action may be more detrimental than no action, so it isn't always a bad thing not to act."
"Deliberation works for both sides of a debate. Fire cannot spread through hesitation, and lightning does not hum and haw over where it will strike. Both swiftly survey their choices, and then set out."
"Neither of these things have agency, they both follow the path of least resistance. They make no choice in what they do or how they go about doing it."

((Now I'm going to make sapient lightning))

"It is not insecure of me to think combat is less likely to find the truth than investigation. I think that's more common sense, frankly. We needn't return to the issue of champions; I said all I wanted to at the time."
"False, an investigation by itself is useless. It is used to find evidence, but Mischief chooses not to present any evidence.
In absence of evidence, trial by combat is the best way. And much better than accusations and rhetorical trickery.
"
"How better to find the truth than via evidence? The truth does not grant a being - divine or otherwise - any extra combat ability. Motivation, perhaps, but it won't suddenly make you a manifestation of martial ability able to shed light on lies everywhere.

Mischief says they have evidence, but I can't imagine any of us will allow them to prosecute, at least publicly, Munroe for their accused crimes without presenting it."

"What makes you think I'm projecting insecurity?"
"That you think their fight to not lose would make the fight of truth vs lie never happen. That they both will so fiercely not want to look weak that they don't need to be fighting for truth.
And there is also the first time, with the Champions. Where you think mortals would think less of us for creating humans rather than dogs.
Your insecurity is affecting your perception.
"

"When you keep projecting insecurity, your carefulness is distorting your perception of the world."

"As I said, nobody to blame but yourself. There were any number of things you could have done that would not have ended in your death, but you chose to be an idiot, and are now complaining about it."

Oh I know. I think my outrage at this is balanced out by my utter confusion over the whole "hey Kojima, piss off" saga.

I mean they tried to make it seem as though he was happy and employed and not leaving when it was clear to everyone that none of these things were true. I mean it just boggles the mind that they just let Hideo Kojima fucking leave.

That'd be like Brian Epstein taking Ringo and George to the side and saying "yeah, Paul and John just aren't working out, they have to go."

Hey man, Konami make a shit deal of money out of this. I don't think they care that all the gamers out there think they're pissing on a storied franchise, nor that they think they're brain dead for allowing one of the most celebrated creators in the video game industry leave.

"The only person you should hold I'll will against is yourself. Anyone wou- excuse me, anyone with any sense would have realized they were going to die if they did what you did in that situation. You didn't have to be the Lord Protector of Munroe to get your point across. You died because you are a proud fool, not because Munroe is a stubborn one."

"Munr03...1s...registering...insult..."
"Well I did get killed with a newspaper because of you. It has not sat well.
And here history is about to repeat itself.
"
"Did Munroe demand that you try to protect him from the gods he displeased?"

But you also have to go through the effort of sitting and staring at a machine for hours, perhaps turning a dial every so often, in order to do it, if you manage it at all.

These machines aren't going to let you win enough for you to gain anything substantial, and the prizes are going to cost less than the total cost of the balls you need to buy.

Loophole, but hardly worth bothering about.
