When I was young I liked the idea of burning things, but the little cartoon firefly, narrated by… the guy from The Good Life I think? Pretty sure it was him but I also get the feeling it was Alexi Sayle, but that doesn’t seem right.

Anyway, I remember the cartoon firefly thing tie a match to his bum ‘cause he didn’t have his lights and the match burned down and burnt him and either he fell or the match fell and burned the kingdom to the ground so don’t play with matches you little shit.

RedWolf was exclaiming over the name of the magic vendor. Their champion is the post before mine.

There are ways to accommodate the extra characters, the easiest perhaps being “qualifying” rounds before the main tournament, or rotating characters, round robins etc.

Equally so Haspen could just ignore the excess characters *shrug* there’s no harm in posting more than necessary, except on Haspen’s time and effort.

It may have just been playing with it. Housecats, or cats generally getting enough food from their owners, indulge in their hunting instincts with prey, whereas a cat that actually requires hunting to get food will kill prey quickly with as little energy expenditure as possible.

I had a cat that was particularly great at hunting, but it would bring it back to the house to play with it. Mice were most common, but there were also birds, frogs, and baby bunnies.

I also recall one time finding the back half of a mouse stuck to the kitchen counter by viscera one morning, which totally put me in the mood for breakfast that day…

I mean sure if you’re still accepting, you could change the format a bit, either doing a round robin grouping thing, which would require so much more admin, or do byes/extra rounds for the extraneous riders via random drawings or based on renown or something…

That’s not true. The biggest thing the UK and various other countries - including the US - did was expelling in total 153 diplomats suspected of being part of Russian intelligence spy networks, among other things like freezing accounts.

What were they supposed to do though? The person who died picked up a bottle of perfume from a bin that happened to be a potent nerve toxin, and the target was a Russian defector. Regardless of success in killing the target, the idea is to spread fear among other defectors, and more importantly, people thinking of defecting that they’re not safe anywhere. Nobody will start a war - never mind a war with a nuclear power! - over that.

What usual prejudice dogpile? Against Erdogan or Musk? Neither are particularly laudable humans.

I mean without rehashing older shit, Musk recently pulled Twitter out of a voluntary EU anti-disinformation code… 3 months before it becomes legally enforceable anyway. He’s also ended free access to the API, which researchers can use to study various things on Twitter, for example, hate speech, which has increased significantly since his takeover and flourishes even though it’s against Twitter policy a lot of the time.

Erdogan, as previously stated, has almost complete control over Turkish media, has imprisoned some political opponents, and gave himself sweeping powers after the “coup” attempt in 2016. Twitter is used to get to younger voters, and Musk claims to be a free speech absolutist, which flies in the face of taking down tweets that are critical of any particular government.
