Hmm, What if a God made a Magic system based on the control of the speed and momentum of atoms? A practitioner could control temperatures at low degrees and slowly move things with their minds at lower skill levels, and later on they could create firestorms and ice-clouds, throw around boulders with their thoughts and so on. It wouldn't be able to harm the Gods enough to warrant opposing it and it could be a Node-Independent source of Power for Mortal Magic-Users. IC, Urthon/Urnoth wouldn't have anything to do with a Magic School like that so I'm not going to bother with it but I figured I might as well throw the concept into the OOC for anyone who's interested.

The weather magic thing can do some of that, just indirectly.

Well you have to understand that there are various forces at play when it comes to making laws.

Some are RP'ing their characters, and there are things people are going to vote for and against.

There's also meta considerations, the biggest being keeping the game simple for KJP.

idk, this isn't quite turning out how i wanted to play this character, but it feels like i can't do a whole lot with the whole "storytelling" aspect without having a decent base of worshippers (because essence costs) and generally waiting for the world to get more developed

my main issue with the current system is that it makes it really, really fuckin hard to get anything "special" because you need to put every single goddamn trait through the proposal system

We don't want OP beings kicking about because some people are better at creating flavour than others. Traits seem to be the fairest way to do that, as people have to limit themselves to what they can afford.

Divine agents/angels/devils were generally the powerful special things you talk about. They usually had plot armour.

That sounds like you are trying to suggest there are two anti-town roles, min.

I also recall you trying to do a similar thing when you were scum at one point... though I imagine there will be a point that we do get multiple Evil roles.

Of the two claims I like doomchild's less. It's like choosing between eating dirt or stones, though.
