General Discussion / Re: Things that made you go "WTF?" today o_O

I downloaded a game today, and played the tutorial.

The tutorial taught me how to drive a boat, for a ridiculously unnecessary amount of time, then showed me (barely) how to cast a rod. Then it made me move the boat, and cast the rod, and deal with a snag. Then it told me to drive the boat back the unnecessary long time again.

It did not explain to me how the radar worked, how to find fish, what type of lures (and/or bait) to use, it did not explain the more complicated parts of casting a rod, nor did it explain the various types of “retrievals” and methods to attract fish to the rod, nor what reducing drag or reel speed really do.

Like, I don’t know what the crossover is between fishing and gaming is, both involve a lot of sitting and staring into space, but I very much doubt all gamers are expert fisher people to the point you don’t need to explain it in your shitty game.

There is an in-game manual oh wait it’s a QR code ffs, and takes you to a link which lists the controls and menu items, and lists the various elements of the HUD. Real helpful.

Double post ftw!

Looks like DeSantis’ crusade against Disney has cost Florida almost $1bn, after Disney cancel plans to build a corporate complex there.

She’s certainly not going to be a national leader ever again.

It’s just a fantasy novel about tiny people who live in carpets, and a journey one (or some) of them make through it.

As I say it’s been a while, but I remember enjoying reading it.

It’s a book. Terry Pratchett wrote it, I think pre-Discworld.

1341
Sid Meier’s Alpha Centauri?

The Carpet People was also a good one probably, I haven’t read it for years.

I’ve been watching America’s Funniest Videos (You’ve Been Framed, for the British folks) recently which may have affected a brief flash of a dream I had that actually woke me up laughing. I don’t even know why because it wasn’t that funny.

There was a child giving out the Eucharist for whatever reason, possibly saying goodbye to people after church, and instead of saying “god bless you” they were very innocently and proudly saying “god damn you” to everyone.

It won’t be the butt of any jokes.

Stay strong dude. You’re doing the right things for her, just make sure to set aside time and space for you.

jipehog is looking to describe the haters, not the hatee.

Braverman is also chatting about making the UK economy high wage, high skill while simultaneously trying to suggest that we should be training people to be fruit pickers so we don’t have as many immigrants.

Why are we importing… well I would say drama but you’re the only one bothered by it…

Why ask this here instead of the thread in which you’re saying this kind thing?

Is it hysterical to say Musk would make Twitter worse when he’s actually made Twitter worse?

I think this was at the end of a page so easy to miss.

Is it hysterical when what people were worried about has manifested itself?
