I'd quite like it to be East until Japan, but any more map is a good thing.

They did have the Sengoku game, kinda Crusader Kings in Japan, so they may not be willing to go back there.

Don't spread that idea, OW. If Americans start leaving their country en masse, they might come here.

Only the sensible ones, though.

Well I reformed the Tengri faith. I'm also sitting at ~80% threat with 0.21% decay.

*sigh*

I think I'm still the Caliph. At least I was before I reformed...

Reverie

It's interesting how you're using this particular phrasing, byraway.

Feel free to think that, but I'm literally just going off of what I hear. If you missed it, I theorised that there are two town factions pitted against each other. One which wants to get rid of the mayor and any means to replace him (this is my own wincon, which I suppose I'll called anarcho-towny), and another which is mostly the same but wants to replace the mayor (as described in the flavour, and I think ATH falls into the category, possible mayor candidacy and all—I'll call these players candidate-townies). It's no secret that there is some mechanism in place to replace the mayor once we remove him. My wincon hints to as much. OSG being said mechanism would have been pretty clever, but the votecount can't lie and you had the foresight to get that checked. I'm not exactly convinced plucking off potential candidates is the cleanest way to go about this, but I'll return my vote to AbstractTraitorHero.

Hector, if you're of the mind that I tried to end this day on a no-lynch, why are you voting for ATH? Do you think he's bluffing about his ability to protect himself, thus ending the day on a no-lynch anyway?

At present, ATH has told us he can be a candidate for the position of mayor. My PM doesn't tell me I can (or can't) be a candidate, but one way to remove the possibility of a re-elected mayor is to get rid of the candidates.

One thing to be considerate of is the potential that the mayor's wincon is to be the only candidate left (and holding the position) so... I'd rather get on with finding the mayor after this.

One suspect, for me, is Moonlit, as I mentioned earlier. He hasn't been on to respond to those yet, though. But just to let Moonlit know I'm serious, I'll pop a vote on him. ATH still has a third of the "electorate" (hohoho) voting for him- hm... it just occured to me we may not be voting who we want to lynch, but are actually electing someone.

If so, this lack of secret ballots is very undemocratic /voter rights /nonsense

PPE: DA

DA and Reverie get no benefit of the doubt though. I feel their wincon claims came a little too long after we established that there is probably more than one wincon for town players.
This is questionable logic unless you expected all wincon claims to be simultaneous.

Not really. You both had the benefit of developed theorycraft from the rest of us before revealing your wincon, allowing you to tailor any claim - genuine or otherwise - to the prevailing wisdom. It's caution, rather than suspicion. It's also D1; we have nothing confirmed beyond our own PM's yet.

What do you have to tell us about the criminal you're s'posed to get rid of?
They're probably an arsonist based off the flavour text I got about them (hence why fillipk's oily interests are suspect to me). They also seem to be unrelated to the mafia, but that's not exactly surprising.

Do you have any means of protecting the rest of the town from the alleged arsonist?

Quote
Since you have a similar wincon to NQT, do you also have to replace the mayor?
Unless I missed something, NQT's claimed wincon doesn't involve replacing the mayor. Mine doesn't mention anything about replacing them one way or the other.

It wasn't so much his claimed wincon as his right-out-the-gate pondering that the mayor needs to be replaced as a condition of town victory. It makes sense to me that his wincon might include that.

PPE2:
I claimed cop and was telling the truth in my first game day one so this isn't out of character for me.

One hopes you would have learned from that experience :P

Headache-induced idea, go!

This is going to be crazy, but what if the mechanism for becoming the new mayor is the GM himself? ATH mentioned that he had to message OSG to activate his candidacy, and this is a bastard game so...

It's interesting how you're using this particular phrasing, byraway.

Also interesting how you're potentially leading the town into a no-lynch on D1.

I need mohr sleep :'( sorry.

PPE:
My wincon is that the mayor is removed you can kill me after we find the mayor and either kill or somehow remove the mayor if it makes you feel better.

The problem with that is that if we kill the mayor, they'll just be replaced, so by killing you, we're making it less likely for that to be able to happen.

If you don't want guards to see what you are doing in your room, grab sheets from other people's beds and cover your room's wall with them.

... I did not know you could do that.

Mafia / Re: Local Emergency Mafia | Bastard Game: Day 1 (9/9)

The townspeople were always too busy fighting off the mafia to vote, so the mayor voted him/herself into office, and nobody knew who it was. Nevertheless, the townspeople prepared to find, kill, and replace the mayor who had been the source of all their troubles. Only time will tell if the Town will root out the mayor, and whether the mayor was in fact the source of the mafia incursions.

Okay, this is from the flavour section of the OP. The three highlighted sections are of note.

1. Those of the town that have signified an interest in replacing the mayor are likely to be mayoral candidates themselves, based on the green section.

2. The purple section does mention the town at large needing to replace the mayor, though we've had four of us (myself, TDS, Reverie and BlackHeartKabal) say they need to have no new mayor elected, and three of us (NQT, AHT and fillipk, though fillipk is speculation on my part) say a new mayor needs elected. DA needs to get rid of the mayor and a specific criminal, though this admission came after the whole "town have different wincons!? :o" thing, so I'll take that with a pinch of salt.

3. The mayor may not be the source of the mafia incursions, plural and non-specific, from the orange section. We may not be facing the mafia in this game at all, but that's super speculative on my part and it's D1, so don't quote me on it :P

So, onto da (other) players: (excuse the scatterbrained nature following this, my cat kept me awake for a lot of last night in trying to deal with the "I want food at cuddles at 4am every morning!" behaviour, and consequently I am knackered. There are not set in stone, just what I think at the time of posting.)

I'm inclined to think BHK has the same wincon as me, and probably TDS too. NQT seems to want to elect a new mayor, and based on the section of the OP I quote up top, I'm inclined to think they could become the mayor and they are the stronger player of the two, so I would prefer it if they were eliminated over ATH.

Unfortunately, ATH has actually confirmed they can be a candidate while NQT has not... so ATH it is.

Fillipk I'm a little less sure about. Mentions of an oil empire suggest to me he's a member of the "elect a new mayor" group of townies, but that's speculative at this point.

Moonlit is very bothersome, and if this were a normal game of mafia, he'd have my vote just now. He has been reactive, only responding to people if they ask him a question, and firing a question or two of little consequence back at that person.

Most egregious thing was here, in which he dips into the back-and-forth between myself and NQT with a little bit of a "yeah! What do you gotta say to that, m8y!?" which strikes me as an attempt to stir the pot...

DA and Reverie get no benefit of the doubt though. I feel their wincon claims came a little too long after we established that there is probably more than one wincon for town players.

DA's wincon also seems to be sufficiently different to warrant further investigation though.

I need to remove the mayor from power and stop a specific criminal. The difference in wording between mine and NQT's leads me to believe that there's more than one criminal at play.

What do you have to tell us about the criminal you're s'posed to get rid of?

Since you have a similar wincon to NQT, do you also have to replace the mayor?

Reverie

Can anyone confirm that they want to remove the mayor and elect a new one in his place?

Why are you trying to curry favour for your mayoral candidacy so openly? No Quicktopic?

Moonlit

seems to think the mayor is a survivor, and apparently doesn't need to kill them. Perhaps you would like to explain how you came to these two conclusions, particularly considering every other player has said the mayor needs to die?
