Mafia / Re: Mafia Marathon (Semi-bastard) Round 6

For the scum, it won't help him win or lose if I'm dead. Me being alive has no difference to his/her wincon.
Once I'm dead, everybody will see my role flip, providing verified evidence to everybody about my theory that the scum wins by blackmailing everybody is correct.

If being able to use me to dispose of items is more valuable than that to town, I'm fine with staying alive.

... has the blackmail actually worked on you?

So you, as town, want the town to kill you and - in doing so - not kill scum? How does this help achieve your wincon?

Why do we need to humanize the machines?

This is how it starts...

How else are can we kill scum?

That's not what I meant, because that would be silly.

There is one scum, while we have seen (potentially) three separate actions be used: guns and bombs and blackmail.

I don't think it makes sense for one role to be providing all three things, so it stands to reason that if one of them originated from scum, the others originated from town or neutral roles.

FoU seems adamant that the blackmail comes from the scum, which is bothersome since, you know, a bomb or a gun could be just as likely, statistically speaking.

Indeed, he's twice as likely to be wrong - choosing at random - than he would be to be correct. He doesn't strike me as one to jump to conclusions with so little information (at least that we know of)

If the scum is generating one of these things, it stands to reason they'd be immune to it too. Why give someone a gun/bomb if they might kill you with it? Though this might be me being overly cautious.

You're assuming that the bomb or the gun didn't originate with the scum, and/or has no immunity to one or the other.

Not a good idea.

'Tis a silly thing to say though. You're a town weakness role in the sense that you're probably not town.

Transable was the first one. I believe it's also known as "body integrity identity disorder". Physically alright, thinks they should've been born disabled (or at least that's what the article writer said it was) and mentioned to a psychologist pouring bleach into one of their patients who felt they should've been born blind, though I didn't click the link for the reference. Given what they're saying I imagine they're cherry-picking their evidence anyway.

As Frumple said about media distorting the case, during the article I read the first sentence referred to Wolshct as a pervert, and never pointed out that Wolscht left his family because they were unsupportive or what not, just that he left his wife and kids to live as a 6 year old girl and has a sexual relationship with the adoptive father (again, no idea if it's true, just what the article stated)

It was just the sort of transition between the various things that bothered me the most. They started with transgender and transagist, two things that are reasonably easy to get your head round. Then moved on to transspecies, which is slightly less so, but relative to the others, okay. Then transable, which was couched in "if they can accept the other trans- arguments, the liberals have to accept this as normal too!"

Then into the whole homosexuality is the same as bestiality is the same as incest is the same as pedophila nonsense, using the argument "if they say "you love who you love" for homosexuality, they have to accept it for the others too!" because obviously every argument anyone ever makes is absolute, with no grey areas between the white and black on the two-sided scale.

I stopped reading it shortly after that. Something about teaching kids sex ed in kindergarten and giving contraceptives to 6th graders and then saying the important things - faith and family - are left out. I (at least like to tell myself I) don't like to judge people, but man, that was some horribly prejudiced shit.

Paul Wolscht or the family that adopted him, I'm not sure which one qualifies more.

Thank you for that.in searching for it, I discovered a ridiculous article on a website called The Blaze which appeared to just be a moral crusade against anything that wasn't "normal".

Basically equating homosexuality, incest, bestiality and pedophilia, and transgender with various things like transage, transspecies andt ransable. It was... bizarre.

The entire point appeared to be "THINK OF THE CHILDREN!"

OSG

Okay, Unvote, but what will we do if he is king mafia?

What if he's not? /best defense ever

Perhaps you should work toward figuring it out? You've done nothing at all so far.

NQT

We also know that killing is not the only active role in the game. There's inspecting, blocking, watching, tracking, jailing, guarding, redirecting, randomising etc. etc. etc. so it's... not all that helpful if someone implies they have an active ability.
It's helpful to know if we're going to be able to confirm that they acted in a night. Like, a tracker can claim later who they were tracking and that could clear them from doing the kill. Obviously I'm not saying all active role folk are scum.

Indeed, though that appeared to be where you were going. Appearances/deceptive, of course.

I'm not attacking you for asking questions, I'm attacking you for the kind of questions you ask. You seem to be trying to lead people into saying certain things that you can then respond by saying "aha! I've got you now scumbucket!
See, you might have a case if I had said "aha!", but voting me on the pretext that I might "aha!" isn't any kind of case. I might as well vote you on the pretext that by voting for me (a town) shows you can't be trusted to live until LYLO where you might also vote for a town. Make a case for things folk have done, not things they might do.

Who said anything about building a case? I expressed disdain over how you were asking questions, voting you to let you know how serious my feelings were. I've been answering the questions you asked, and asking some of my own. You're my first vote of the game. Do you often end up lynching/wanting to lynch the first person you vote for on the first RL day of D1?

When it's DA, you say you're trying to get a handle on his game, so what is your goal when asking questions of me?

4mask (broken streak of pleasant 3 letter acronyms :'()

Lean: When you said you had left the "I'll be back later" thing as a means to see how people reacted, you pointed out what you were doing after about an hour (initial post was 7:27, you said what you were doing at 8:41) on a Friday night. I don't think that's enough time, but that's just, like, my opinion, man.
Welcome to my life: where even my social events are only an hour long :P

At least you have a social life :o what's it like?

Anyways, short social life aside, you didn't have to post immediately upon your return to say what you were doing.

... but you did, so I'm less inclined to believe you were fishing for reactions. What that means in the grand scheme of the game? Who knows. Pondering time.

DA, Persus, Shakerag (and I guess OSG..?) what are your thoughts on proceedings so far?
