I think it’s if you’re writing and have an idea of where you’re going with a story, don’t take it to the end of the stuff you’re thinking of writing about, but stop a little short so you have a starting point to continue from, and probably also to think about while you’re not writing.

One tip is, obviously for the times when you don’t have writer’s block, is to stop writing when you know where the story is going, ‘cause when you start writing next time you know where to start off.

Something like that.

Ah life would so much easier if I were a psychopath.

I am thus reminded of a joke:

Two bits of tarmac in a pub were discussing who was the hardest.

“I’m part of the M25, four lanes of stationary traffic every day, that’s hard!”

“That’s nowt,” replied the other, “I’m mental me, M1 near Sheffield, always getting dug up, nowt harder than that!”

Just then the door opens and in walks some green tarmac. Both bits of road dive under the table, quivering.

“I thought you said you were the hardest?” said the bartender.

“It’s that green tarmac, he’s a cyclepath!”

I think we’re better at detecting them, everything in the world is so interconnected in terms of communication, and we recently had a massive pandemic that is still causing some issues so anything remotely similar is latched onto as hugely worrying.

Put it altogether and you’ll get headlines everywhere along the lines of “Is This The Next Covid?”

Gotta look after yourself brah. Hopefully your friend makes a full recovery.

‘cause it’s been in the news every day since it happened, with very little to report. Nature abhors a vacuum; in this instance, people have filled it with all manner of bollocks.

I mean, yeah. Rupert Murdoch hasn’t built a media empire by selling the truth. Kelvin MacKenzie is a fuck huge example of that.

Even when his papers do report the truth, it doesn’t necessarily mean it was come by legally. Hacking the phone of a murdered school girl is barely scratching the surface of the depravity in which his “journalists” engage.

It came from the police. They said something about specific vulnerabilities, then a few hours later said she had issues with alcohol.

Good lord, people. It's a piece of chocolate shaped like a cigar.  :P

A brown cigar shape could be confused for many things.

That’s what was reported by the police, according to the Beeb.

To be honest they shouldn’t be telling people that. The fact it’s been in the news for over three weeks with nothing to report is ridiculous though (which is a problem with the media, not the police. “Pretty white woman goes missing” apparently needs coverage every hour on the hour regardless of developments) which is probably why they felt the need to say those things.

People have been abusing local dignitaries and also some sort of macabre tourism is taking place also, which isn’t helping the police do their job, presumably as a consequence of the excess coverage.

1694
Then you can’t be complaining that Toady isn’t doing anything if Toady is indeed doing something :p

Truth.

I’m personally surprised politics threads are still allowed on the forum given how they have gone in the past, particularly given the ban on rage threads and Pony threads.

Edit: the other RD I assume you’re referring to was the drive-by troll that posted contentions, contrarian points in multiple threads, rather than just sticking to one thread to pour their idiocy into.

I think we’re doing a reasonable job ourselves of arguing the points, and nobody is getting excessive in doing so, beyond wondering what RD is still doing here.

My assumption is sly attempts at moving the argument away from legitimate criticism of Russian policy and actions, but they’re not very good at it. Possibly this is a training exercise for Russian troll farms?
