I wholeheartedly disagree with you that moving your vote around is weak and unfocused play (in the first 24 hours of D1 no less!). Your vote is your voice, and telling someone you think they are the most suspicious player at the moment by voting them is saying a great deal, to them and other players.
I'm sorry but you misunderstood my point. Using your vote active is good, very townsided, I make this point in every game in fact. I don't disagree with anything you've said here.

Instead of "unfocused" perhaps it would have been better if I talked about "reticent". Specifically, pulling back from making votes. I was thinking of this kind of post where Lucky almost makes a vote then immediately pulls back. Like, when a player's "resting" state is not voting, hopping on and then off quickly. There's not real pressure there, so it's weak use of a vote.

Does that make more sense? I can see how this confusion over sense arose.

A’ight cool, that makes more sense yes. Thank you for clearing that up.

You missed me other questions though:

Quote
Currently you have an RVS vote on someone who appears to be gaining traction as a townread. What would your analysis of D1 voting patterns say of that specifically, and someone who left their RVS vote on someone for a great deal of the day generally?

Though they are somewhat rhetorical in nature, and I’m basically asking you to scum read yourself.

I’m undecided on whether to vote for you as you brought up being concerned with the vote spread but are maintaining your RVS vote, or Toaster who rubs me the wrong way, or juicebox because I can’t get a read on someone who’s not here.

Eh, I’ll keep it on you. Toaster has implied further action and is posting more now, and I don’t think voting juicebox will make them show up any faster.

I look forward to a vote from you that has something behind it.

You asked the three people not voting earlier who they would want to see lynched so...

Who would you like to see lynched at this point?

Who would you like to see in D2, based purely on what you’ve seen from D1?

SecretDorf

You’re still flailing a little bit. Right now you need to stop looking like you want to preserve yourself and start looking like you want to help the town.

There are a handful of players that people don’t have reads on, you’d do well to pressure them a little.

3722
I said Secretdorf earlier. They’re new though, so it could just be the panicked flailing is because they don’t know what to do to shift focus from them so they’re reaching at every straw they can see.

There’s still half the day left though, so I don’t really want to put my eggs in that basket yet.

3723
I thought I’d have more to say to NQT but I guess not, ah well.
Hey Caz, you gonna respond to my points or are you happy to have loose ends - particularly ones that make it look like you’re not paying attention to the thread - flapping in the wind?

Jeez, you're definitely not getting any trifle -.- If you mean me to reply about you voting LO meaning webadict, then yeah, I think I have LuckyOwl on the brain somehow. I should probably go back and check that though.

It was that and you said I was townreading webadict for doing something you did and I was voting you for it, even though you were my RVS vote, and I’ve explained the context of my townread on webadict a million billion times.

3724
I thought I’d have more to say to NQT but I guess not, ah well.

I’ve been pretty clear on my scumreads so far, Luckyowl and Secretdorf, though they are the newest players and that’s probably why they’re coming across as scummy.

I’d still lynch Secretdorf though, if the day ended now. But it doesn’t which leads into:

NQT

You can track someone’s suspicions over the course of a day by looking at their vote movement, which allows you to figure them out much easier.

Else what would be the point of the vote analysis for which you’re so famous?

Currently you have an RVS vote on someone who appears to be gaining traction as a townread. What would your analysis of D1 voting patterns say of that specifically, and someone who left their RVS vote on someone for a great deal of the day generally?

I’m guessing it wouldn’t be great.

I have some reads if you want, not including me:

Solid town: SHAD0Wdump is making solid effort

Probably town: webadict their vote resting in an easy lynch doesn’t sit well with me and waiting for Vector before he makes an effort bothers me; else they’d be solid town.

Lean town: TricMagic for the Miller claim, Vector is doing stuff

Null: Toaster, juicebox, ToonyMan

Teetering on the edge of scum: Caz ‘cause what they said about me doesn’t make sense and they haven’t answered preferring to respond to my reference to a sketch show.

More later maybe I just got up and I need to go shopping and talk to people and then watch the football

PFP so I’ll respond in individual posts

I think it's rich that hector is voting LuckyOwl for being 'passive' when that adjective could fit half the players in the game.

I haven’t ever voted Luckyowl this game. I assume you meant webadict? ‘cause I’m not voting webadict anymore.

I voted webadict for being passive because webadict was actually here being passive, whereas everyone else was off doing whatever they do on weekends.

Hector
You and Toaster were getting in my grille about how I was posting, webadict is aware what I was doing was not serious, he stopped me doing it, and in so doing the two of you wasting your time on something that was NAI.

If he was scum he would’ve let that carry on.

Wit.

Hey hector remember when I literally explained to SHAD0W that you weren't claiming 3rd party? Webadict points out NAI behaviour and you townread him, I do the same thing and... you are voting me? :D Why buddy webadict so much?

I’ve explained my vote on you was RVS, I’ve also explained multiple times to varying lengths (I think in each of my last handful of posts) why I’m townreading webadict.

I feel... left out. Estranged almost.

[silly references] Do you stockpile individual trifles in case someone suddenly shows an interest in you? [/silly references]

3726
@SHAD0Wdump: Time spent on ascertaining alignment isn’t wasted. Finding town is just as useful as finding scum. The fact you’re here and making an effort also makes it easier for other people to read you going forward. /pep talk, totally not buddying

I think webadict is being passive (I assume that’s what you meant as being unaddressed in all scenarios) because reading Vector will take some effort from him, and is saving it for that.

Though I fully admit this is me rationalizing my town read with his behaviour.

PPE:@Luckyowl: I read webadict as town for now. There’s a lot of game left for that to change.

3727
What makes you think each of them are town?

Do you have thoughts on who might be scum?

3728
If he was scum he would’ve let that carry on.

riiight. Sure.

Okay.

Webadict has played games with me before, and thus knows that - when I apply myself - I can be useful.

Consequently, noting I was pissing around and that my pissing around was receiving attention, he got me to stop. Unkindly, but whatever I got over it.

Within this context, could you explain to me how scum!webadict and his scum buddies would benefit more from me taking the game seriously and thus not distracting the town at large, versus the town at large having to deal with my flouncing around pointlessly?

3729
Note, this is subject to change, but for the moment I’m cool with it.

3730

3731
Webadict said I was breadcrumbing clown.

Also, I’m not voting webadict because I think webadict’s town.

3732
@SHADOWDump

Excuse me, but I don’t waffle on votes. The only vote I’ve made so far that didn’t mean anything was on Caz, an RVS vote.

You may think you can pressure people without a vote, I prefer to put my money where my mouth is.

Presently there is enough time in the day that I don’t need to be voting someone, and I’ll not be doing anything about it until tomorrow.

Waffling. Pfft. *shakes his head*

3733
You can pressure people without using your vote and you should damn well know that.

At this point, I'm a little triggered so fine. Webadict.
Well, as long as you're not voting Vector anymore, I suppose that's a win, eh? I'd honestly feel more threatened if someone like Toaster or ToonyMan voted me because they've made cases elsewhere, whereas you only voted me because you couldn't vote for people you were actually suspicious of because you were voting for Vector.

You know, writing that all out... It doesn't really make a whole lot of sense, does it? But, an excuse is an excuse, I suppose.

You’re a mafia badass so you can do that yourself, ya lazy bum.

Like, Luckyowl is the easy lynch today, why are you doing scum’s work for them? You were chatting about not wanting to waste the day away around my play, yet you’re quite content to waste the day away sitting on a Luckyowl wagon, while he flails around like Magikarp!

PPE: I like this wagon and I’m petty and butthurt.

webadict
Not true. I've been reading cases as things have gone on. To dominate the thread would itself be a hindrance because I wouldn't get a chance to read additional cases. It feels entirely like you're missing the point of what I'm saying. Being a Mafia badass involves leveraging other people's information as needed and not stymieing ideas. If Luckyowl is flailing, you're suggesting I flood the thread with more cases? Why? To detract from my case on Luckyowl? I'm not being pulled into that now.

PPE: Oh neat, Luckyowl said Vector is Town. That, surprisingly, makes me more certain that Vector is Town, and they've literally only posted like once. That's... actually really cool.

Cases are things you make when you want to lynch someone. I have serious, serious doubts anyone has a case on anyone less than 24 hours into D1 when we haven’t had the entire town present yet. Bits and pieces that will eventually form parts of their case, yet, but if anyone is sure enough on anyone to be voting to lynch them yet, it is madness.

If you were sold on your case on Luckyowl, you wouldn’t give a shit about my earlier behaviour because nothing I do is going to change that. This means you want more from other players in order to get a read on them yet you do little to encourage this.

*2 episodes of Stranger Things later*

I forgot what I was doing.

Like, there’s being a mafia bad ass by letting other people talk but when there’s nobody talking you can’t just sit passively by- that’s it okay never mind I was trying to figure out why my gut is telling me you’re town and I got there. You wanted me to stop what I was doing earlier to stop people getting distracted, which is quite a town-minded thing to be doing. You suffer from pride though so you may do that as scum... but’s that’s reaching.

I still don’t like the passiveness though.

There have been like... 6 posts since I started this, which I have scanned and kinda sorta like (feeling the Secretdorf/Luckyowl scum team)

I have been summoned elsewhere, so... probably tomorrow you will hear from me.

unvote

To be fair I could also be accused of helping my scumbuddy set up their narrative by asking that, and otherwise allowed scum!webadict to do the same.

Smeg.
