I would not, but in a take my character out of the game kinda way.

Or more, I’m happy for him to be used by the GMs in whatever way they see fit kinda way.
Ah, alright, we will figure something out for him, most likely he will become a town NPC or something like that. Thanks for playing :)

Nah it’s cool, I appreciate being part of the game but if you don’t want the extra admin or whatever, feel free to kill him off.

I only request you make the death fantastic.

General Discussion / Re: What are you reading?
« on: November 21, 2020, 03:26:42 am »
A lot of old books have much much slower pacing, I've noticed.

Isn't The Dick of Moby two books in one?  One half the well known fight between Sir Patrick Stewart and a whale, and the other basically Whaling Facts(tm)?

It’s not even whaling facts. One chapter is Melville going on at length about the colour white and how various different cultures see it, and this just to illustrate that Moby Dick being white makes it more frightening.

One chapter is also him talking about how whales have three traits that make them difficult quarry. One is the fact they’re huge so even if you harpoon it and go to deepest darkest Africa for years and then go back to whaling you might encounter the same whale with your harpoon in it, even though you’ve been in deepest darkest Africa for years and the whale has probably been around the world a few times. Another is that they’re fearless, and will quite happily ram your boats in defense of its life. I cannot remember the third one because I don’t why he went on so much about a harpooner being in deepest darkest Africa for pages and pages when he could’ve spent a paragraph doing it and it reminded me of the chapter (AN ENTIRE CHAPTER) about the colour white so I stopped reading because holy fuck Herman I want to know about Ahab and Moby Dick not you going on at great length how whaling ships passing each other will come together so the two crews can pass on news to each other about what’s happening in the world and maybe share resources too and the captains can get together and chat or whatever but then tell me in a couple of sentences that Ahab didn’t do that because he’s a monomaniacal madman.

Yeah, the you in the past doesn’t exist anymore, it was merely a step on the journey to who you are today.

It’s not like past-you will get upset about present-you misgendering yourself.

This is good news. Being comfortable in your own skin is something not many people can claim to have.

That was a sensible edit Reelya.

But yeah, dragdeler’s post appeared to be quite the nonsequitur.

Why is Watership Down on that list?

I mean - I guess maybe it is horrifying but not in the "horror movie" sense.

I remember it being on CITV - kids after school TV basically - for a few months. I was a bit older by then, mid-teens maybe, watching it because it’s cartoon rabbits. I watched a couple of episodes of what was presumably a series and fucked it off because I just spent 7 hours doing something depressing, why the fuck would I want to spend another half hour choosing to watch something else depressing.

I still wonder wtf was going through the minds of the execs who thought that was a good idea.

Also The Thing being disturbing, it’s more the psychological thing of not being able to escape and also having people you’ve know and trust being monsters that will absorb you at the next available opportunity, and will defend itself through violently lethal means if you harm even the smallest aspect of it being the terrifying part.

It’s got a great story to it, great actors in it, and the ending was excellent.

The video game and sucked ass though.

Edit: Watership Down series.

Apparently it was less dark than the movie.

The second one is a bit silly. A conservative, libertarian Koch-funded site isn’t going to promote lockdowns.

90% of positive cases were symptomless - which means they’re spreading the disease between the weekly tests - and still only 2% of participants tested positive in what they term an extreme quarantine which really wasn’t that extreme because they essentially just described how a quarantine works, other than maybe the extent of cleaning they did.

Without checking the actual source, what they meant by not having “personal electronics or other items that might contribute to surface transmission” also describes almost literally everything small enough to fit in your hands.

The control group also didn’t seem like much of a control because it doesn’t actually appear they were tested at day 0, so who knows how many of them were positive at the start, and the PCR tests for active infections, not antibodies. It’s also very cheeky they don’t list how many of the control group were symptomatic, because I imagine coughing your lungs up is going to significantly inflate the virus you’re shedding into the environment.

OH THE KICKER! They accuse the media of ignoring the science because one paper supports their position that lockdowns don’t stop the virus. Magic.

I will read the first one now.

Post-read edit: just as silly as the second one.

He even says that surgical masks are better than cloth masks, which is utterly ridiculous.

It’s the same as the second one: an obviously biased person finding one study which supports their position ignoring all the studies suggesting otherwise and shouting “SEE! THEY WON’T LOOK AT THE SCIENCE TELLING THEM THEY’RE WRONG!” without any sense of irony.

I am out, something stupid happened that I was told wouldn’t happen and I get to be the one to deal with it, and if my past experience is anything to go by, this is something that will take weeks to deal with because I have to do everyone’s job for them until someone decides to actually fix the god damn problem they “fixed” in the first place.

I don’t even get to shout at someone.

Yeah, the local health department here are all about you contacting people you were in contact with over the previous 48 hours before you develop symptoms.

The phone call I got telling me that happened about 9 days after I tested positive, which itself happened 9 days after I developed symptoms, so:.. yeah. I understand why they have to do it, but... alacrity.

Nah it’s cool, I actually wasn’t sure if that was something you did ‘cause it’s been a while since I was in and, to be completely fair, it’s not really a necessity to do it since you list it  here anyway.

Well he won, so why should he stop the process of government because everyone else said he didn’t?

((You forgot to PM me my stuff :o ah well))

Well, Herb, probably not a regular gig for you this time but I’m sure we can get back to normal soon enough.

get in the car, look for a music bar in a rough part of town near the docks, woo all the baddies inside with my super duper piano skills, hire some of them for my quest to murder everyone, then get to the submarine.

I managed to do the last Ultimate battle in the climax battles on my first try, which involves facing all the story mode bosses in succession with one (admittedly maxed out) health bar.

Much abuse of the Komaki Tiger Drop was done.
