There’s no issue with you having a reasoned discussion. The issue is being an ass and personal attacks that have little to do with the topic being discussed.

I had a similar situation regarding someone repeating the brand they were looking for and the container it was in, but because it wasn’t some stupid off-brand lemonade I stopped him before he did it too many times.

Part of the problem was my brain was apparently unable to form the sentence “are you looking for the 15-pack or the 12-pack?” and the trauma resulting from reliving the memory of Sundrop? In a bottle? Sundrop?

I got through it. I think I gave up trying to say what I wanted to say and just thought “fuck it” and gestured toward where the two varieties where and started walking toward it in the hope he would shut up and follow me.

Anyhow, hopefully that doesn’t turn out too serious, Baal. I think you require less excitement in your existence :p

The Brennan Center’s seminal report on this issue, The Truth About Voter Fraud, found that most reported incidents of voter fraud are actually traceable to other sources, such as clerical errors or bad data matching practices. The report reviewed elections that had been meticulously studied for voter fraud, and found incident rates between 0.0003 percent and 0.0025 percent. Given this tiny incident rate for voter impersonation fraud, it is more likely, the report noted, that an American “will be struck by lightning than that he will impersonate another voter at the polls.”

A comprehensive 2014 study published in The Washington Post found 31 credible instances of impersonation fraud from 2000 to 2014, out of more than 1 billion ballots cast. Even this tiny number is likely inflated, as the study’s author counted not just prosecutions or convictions, but any and all credible claims.

In other news, I've got no idea how to help people who are in emotional distress of any sort. Anxiety, sadness, worry, grieving? I have no idea what to say. I care, dammit, but I don't know how to communicate that or how to help.

This is the main reason I don't deserve friends, as it means I'm by definition a fair-weather friend at best.

Just being there is good, even if you don’t know what to say. A lot of the time people aren’t looking for people to help them solve an issue, just listen to it and understand how they feel.
