Welcome to computer maintenance!

My computer that I built about 5 years ago (not that fantastic, I know where to put things when I read where to put them) used to not POST, then it POST’d infrequently, and stalled when Windows booted, then it POST’d all the time, and infrequently stalled when Windows booted, then never POST’d when I turned it on but always when I switched it off and on again while infrequently stalling when Windows booted, and now it starts good all the time.

My first thought was an anthropomorphic battery for advertising.

I think Yoink is deliberately keeping us in suspense.

I think he means the dance.

Your first question still stands though. Why is a battery dancing, and why that specific dance? :o

I don’t know!

Wait!

Two layers!

One with the shiny side out, the other with the dull side out!

Foolproof!

Better idea!

Quantum tinfoil!

It’s shiny and dull at the same time!

Yeah, that whole data-mining situation just makes me glad I never bothered with social media and still use a burner flip-phone. Doesn't make a huge difference, but it's something.

I would probably not have Facebook if I didn’t live on a different continent from the rest of my family.

This isn’t allowed to happen, man. It’s all well and cool reading and hearing about people I’ve never heard of getting it on the news and that, but people I interact with - even internet people whose real names I don’t know - aren’t allowed to be close to it.

It’s too real now.

All of you, get into your bubbles immediately and don’t come out for the foreseeable.

Tinfoil clothes will become the new fashion!

Stay safe dude.

No idea how you’re going to do that... presumably a great deal of PPE is used and discarded in the isolation wing?

It’s that kind of thing that makes me wonder why people still think conspiracies that the government want to implant chips in people to track them hold any water. Smartphones all have GPS, and private companies have your information and the ability to analyze it to know a great deal of shit about you.

Through myy phone, Apple knows where I work and live, how often I go shopping and any other number of things because I have it with me a lot. Google knows what games I play, what I’m interested in generally and most recently. Facebook knows who my immediate and extended family are, who I went to school with, where I went to school and the area where I grew up.

The government legitimately don’t need to do anything to track me or influence me; pay the companies some fees and they can target ads directly at me. All this conspiracy bullshit is way too much effort when they can pay someone else to do it for them.

Why was maths the class they taught logic in?

Like, if you give me a set of numbers and tell me what to do with them, it’s all cool.

If you give me a fucking word problem that I need to read very bloody carefully to figure out that’ll give me the set of numbers I need and what I need to do with them, that’s a different kettle of fish.

Oh.

Very good.

For some reason I was wanting to calculate how many times it landed on a train, which is silly.

Technically, because it's a limit, it lands infinity times on each train by the time they meet.

Once the trains meet it doesn’t even have to fly between them anymore!

An Overly Complicated Math Problem

Here's a good one for you:

there are trains 100 miles apart on the same set of tracks, the trains head towards each other at 50 miles per hour.

Now, there's a fly sitting on one of the trains. As soon as the trains depart, the fly flies to the other train at 100 miles per hour. Each time the fly gets to one of the trains, it turns around and flies back to the other train, going back and forth at the same speed. Eventually, the two trains meet in the middle (so the fly flies a little shorter distance each time it turns around). How far in total did the fly travel? Can you work it out?

What kind of fly flies at 100mph?

Does it fly straight between the trains or does it do that meandering thing that flies do?

What is its motivation for this bizarre bleep test?

Only if you ignore all the wildlife that can kill you.
