I suspect it was the IRC channel, though I never have been interested in that kind of thing since I was a teen.

Take some of the scrap metal from the hidden room, use it to craft some more ammunition for my crossbow while we decide what we’re doing.

While he is working on some bolts, he absently thinking about the liquid on the floor, and the tattered journal he found.

He stops and looks at the stairs down the way, muttering to himself.

The Goblin..?

He shrugs and continues his work.

If dwarves are taking the stepladder to a stockpile, you should probably configure the stockpile to not take stepladders, see if that fixes the problem.

Poison is absorbed, venom is injected.

You could eat or drink venom, as long as you have no open sores or ulcers or something in your mouth or stomach. Probably not a good idea though.

That’s what you get for having a mushroom pizza.

Though I guess your question has merit. Sour is usually not something I associate with bread and cheese and tomato sauce.

Doctor Doak begins to get excited. Electricity needs to be generated by something. Something which likely contains valuable parts, either in their utility or monetary value.

look for seams in the wall, or some way to open it, he needs to get behind it.

Doctor Doak taps the wall and pushes it, trying to discern anything out of the ordinary. The wall resists giving up its secrets, but Doctor Doak eventually discovers a gap and after straining for a few moments manages to push through to the other side, the wall swinging wide open like any other door would.

The room inside is simultaneously too large and too small. The ceiling is low, low enough to cause taller adventurers to bend or risk straining their neck to stand in the room. But the room stretches into the distance, the wall beyond hidden in darkness. Visible in the room are rows of what look like library shelves, holding various odd machines and solid chunks of steel, all riveted tightly to the shelves. Some of them have fallen out of the shelves, or else placed on the floor, and smashed into pieces.

The rows are connected through wires to a large glass cylinder close to the door, illuminated by manic sparks licking the ceiling. The cylinder is shattered in the middle, shards of glass littering the floor around it. Inside the cylinder is what appears to be a clear mason jar, with sparks inside of it.

A leather pouch can also be made out among the shattered glass and debris.

Doctor Doak looks at the scene before him for a few moments, drawing conclusions.

The door was hidden, implying whoever built it didn’t want what was inside to be found. This further implies what was behind it was of great value, or great caution. A place to hide something from being stolen or discovered.

If the glass is on the outside of the cylinder, that means that it was broken from the inside... a worrying idea. (how big is the hole? How do the wires in the pool of liquid outside fit into all of this; are they also connected to the cylinder?)

His eye is drawn to the oddity in the room. Questions of why it was there - dropped in a hurry perhaps? Left behind by a distracted custodian? - could wait for the more immediate ask of what it was.

Pick up the leather pouch, look inside.

The broken parts on the floor fit the idea the area was vacated in a hurry, or perhaps forgotten about by someone...

Examine the broken machinery on the floor. Can it be determined what it’s purpose is? Can anything be salvaged from it?

Was the rest of the room like this? It would make sense for a hidden room to have a singular purpose, whatever that may be, but assumptions were for hypotheses.

Go deeper into the room, is there anything different in there? Check it out too!

One last piece to the puzzle. There are wires in here, but also out there, surrounded by traps. Were the traps designed to keep people like us out, or to keep something from leaving?

Once the room is explored, leave and check out the wires by the liquid. Can I determine if they were connected to anything out here? Is the liquid the same as the green goo collected from the angry beasties?

Other Games / Re: RimWorld - basically the sci-fi Dwarf Fortress

Reelya has made me change my opinion on DLC, at least from indy devs or devs continually working on games. They need to be able to pay the people to keep churning out updates, and the easiest way to do that is releasing paid for content.

I don’t know if Rimworld is going to be worked on continually, or for how long, but if I still played it and got enjoyment out of it, I’d be willing to invest some cash into it, regardless of what the DLC was.

Doctor Doak stops to consider for a moment.

The peculiar looking wall could be providing power - or something - to the wires, or the wires could be doing the same for the wall.

He decides on the former, and approaches the wall.

Carefully approach the peculiar looking wall at T11 and examine it.

Oh misko!

Maybe they just don’t like it as much without RedKing to argue with.

Yehp.

May have been more accurate as al-ourin, but I think that may have made it a bit more difficult.

Even my morbid curiosity is not enough to make me do it.

Is anyone on here politically activated this year? I remember we used to have a guy in New York's election machine, they made for an interesting perspective.
That was Maximum Spin, if I recall correctly. I also know we have someone who's fairly active in Georgia Republican circles.
I thought it was Baffler, or Bumbler.

Is there someone even called Bumbler?
