Iain of Uist nods as Humphrey speaks.

Mmm. It is not outside the realm of possibility that the millers conspired to hire someone to destroy their mills in order to replace aging equipment and buildings. One mill burning down is unlikely to draw the attention of the crown and its coffers, but three might. This could set a terrible precedent.

Thank Aven for his help, retrieve the notes he made, and my pen! ... then return to the boarding house for some rest.

Just ‘cause I’m lazy and can’t be bothered doing calculations for everyone on everything, the stamina stat, according to a +10 from VIT and +5 from INT:

Doctor Doak should be 150.

Burt should be 125.

Dularach should be 130.

Kayla should be 150.

Laemmie should be 150.

Linea should be 120.

Liz should be 115.

Maslarein 120.

Jack 120.

Raine 125.

Shania 125.

Calculations subject to early morning error.

I also think there are issues with stamina regen, but I’m not entirely sure how that’s meant to work.

That cuts off the end before the person realizes they’re railing against something good for them.

Aven then leads Doctor Doak down the hall into a large storage space. Parts of the room are glowing a dim blue-ish purple, suggestive of the presence of magical alterations. Three bodies of gnolls are lying on the ground, lifeless.

"These ones came this morning. Xanios apparently hasn't gotten to disposing of them yet. Feel free to examine them however you like. We're in no shortage of dead creatures' corpses."

Ah, excellent!” the doctor claps his hands together loudly once, “please fetch me a particularly sharp knife, a recording device, and someone with knowledge of the anatomy of these creatures. They will assist me.

On the assumption Aven has no recording devices:

Oh, right, yes. Then you must return to record my results, also,” Doctor Doak hands Aven one of his pens from his lab coat.

Perform a thorough examination of the external and internal nature of the gnolls, taking particular interest in the brain, spine, and nervous system. Note any differences and similarities between the three gnoll corpses, making use of the knowledge of my assistant, should one be found.

No, you misunderstand. Your economics teacher's job is to teach the fundamentals of economic theory. He certainly does think about those things, but it's his job to keep the class on the rails and prepare the students for the exams. I pretty much bet that every year there's at least one student in (his/her) class who wants to talk about some side topic and how it's super-important to macro-economics, and he had to steer the class back onto the rails.
As an aside, this is the case in every class, regardless of subject. So a plea to anyone who's still in education: DON'T BE AN ATTENTION-HOGGING STUDENT. Pretty please. It's disruptive, self-defeating, and doesn't score you any points with anybody.
I waited until after class to discuss these things with him. I pay attention in class like everyone else, waiting until after class to ask these types of questions
That’s vital down-time you’re eating into, man! Teachers are underpaid and overworked, they don’t need some student eager to absorb more of their knowledge actually engaging with the subject matter!

As Reelya suggested. chances are they’re teaching to a test, so teaching you something that isn’t on the test, regardless of your interest, could lead to you not doing the test properly and bad things happening to them/their class/their school as a result.

Oh. That man.” he ponders for a moment “of course. I’ll be back presently.

Doctor Doak will find Aven and shake him down for all his money ask him for some supplies, then come back and buy that sweet alchemist kit.

Then return to Aven and ask if there are any remains from the evil beasties he can examine.

I think people are chatting amongst themselves and also doing more actions as others are processed.

We’re also getting some cutscenes of a beastie doing terrible things to corpses.

Doctor Doak takes a breath to tell the apothecary he has no money, but would offer his aid with the patient as Maslarein wanders in, touches the patient, and wanders out. His mouth agape, he blinks a few times to recover his senses.

I’m short on cash at the moment, do you offer credit, or is there anything I can do for you in return for the alchemists’ kit? I humbly submit that I have something of a scientific mind, I could be quite useful to you.

Why do you want to talk to people though? I mean, on the one hand I get it, social species, people offer different perspectives, but on the other, talking to people is frickin’ exhausting.

I have also edited my post to represent my actions.

I just learned that there was a civil war ii in Marvel comic books. Why would they want to make a sequel to that terribleness?

Yeah, Marvel comics aren’t usually good enough for sequels.

Doctor Doak will take a room in the building, but will immediately journey to the apothecary to discuss their wares and how they make them, hopefully gaining some knowledge of the local flora and fauna.

Take particular interest in concoctions that disable creatures in some capacity (making them unconscious, experience a great deal of pain, make them less hostile, that sort of nonsense).

Look to gather ingredients for some potions to make myself, using knowledge gained from my interaction with the apothecary.

Have you never played Theme Hospital? I think Two Point is meant to be something of a spiritual successor.

Which is pretty cool since Theme Hospital was very amusing, and also quite brutal if you actually think about some of the treatments.
