It’s almost as though they’ve been neighbors for thousands of years that may have visited once or twice :p

No, it's when you're back in a supposedly more familiar environment yet everything seems strange. I had spent nearly three years abroad.

This is a known phenomenon, I just can’t remember the name of it.

Also, Buckie doesn’t count, they do that in Scotland too, probably elsewhere in t’Isles.

Spoiler (click to show/hide)

But yeah, I’ve mentioned this before, but my brother got Mortal Kombat II when I was rather young, and I was rather effusive about all the brutal things you could do in the game, much to my mother’s concern. She raised this with me, to which I responded with “but mum, it’s only a game.” which apparently placated her. So that’s my position when it comes to these things; if the players know it’s a game, isn’t real, and they have no interest in carrying out what happens in the game irl, there’s no harm in it and anyone who thinks it is something to worry about is being a bit silly.

That’s kind of interesting how politicians seem to think people have an innate desire to protect others by putting themselves at risk.

I mean, does having a gun give someone greater intestinal fortitude? Sudden impressive marksmanship skills in situations of great peril?

It’s because people anthropomorphise things, and get worried when people fantasize about doing great harm to these things.

I recall a back and forth I had with someone here about Undertale. They refused to perform a genocide run, whereas I had little problem with it, in part because

but also because I paid for the game and wanted to see the consequences, regardless of how much the characters had grown on me.

Mildly upset, though. That’s more foot-stomping-arms-crossed tantrum adjacent.

There's a joke here, but I'm a little uncertain how to finish it... So, rather than do it myself, I'll provide you (the audience) with a list of three choices, and you can pick whichever punchline you prefer.

  • Magnum condoms
  • High-caliber fully automatic assault freedoms
  • Children

If number one quit slipping off, they wouldn't have number three.

That’s what number two is for. /winner of the jokes in poor taste competition

Were you attacking over a river and/or into mountains? What was the composition of your troops versus their’s?

These sorts of threads make me feel like we need a "History of Bay12" thread. All the memes, all the trends, all the famous posters, everything since the very beginning. Just to make things more easily understandable.

There is one.

At least someone was working on one a few years ago.

YOU WOULDNT STEAL AN 800 OLD GOTHIC TRIPTYQUE TO MAKE A PERFECTLY ACCURATE FAC-SIMILE, WOULD YOU?!

My phone thinks that 800 OLD GOTHIC is a phone number.
