Fair enough, cheers lads.

Should probably have checked that prior to making the Abassids a tributary. Ah well.

I think he’s upset with the way you worded it (“all” about the state of mind) rather than the essence of what you said.

Anyhows, my nugget of fun with anti-depressants is that your body is going to change so what works now might not work later. Took mirtazapine for a year, was “alright”. Stopped mirtazapine for a year. Got a prescriptionfor it again, took it for four weeks and those four weeks were, quite frankly, fucking awful. Worse than not being on them.

Becoming Samrat Chakravartin was seriously underwhelming.
Is uniting India as dharmic just a grind?
Basically.

Don’t even get any special pop-ups saying how awesome you are, everything just goes orange and you lose 2 empire titles and wonder what you’re going to do with yourself for the last 3 centuries.

Not even sure I can get the ‘chievo for holding Rajastan and Persia since Rajastan doesn’t exist anymore.

Just have to smash the Byzantines for Constantinople and the pope for Rome to convert them to a dharmic religion, which is made significantly easier with societies... maybe get over to Britain somehow.

Is this the same boss you were trying to avoid 'cause of previously rejected advances?

Oh aye, the Chinese send troops when you attack the Western Protectorate.

Most I saw was 50k+, 'cause I was big. I think it makes it a slightly more even war, rather than going OTT and just smashing everyone. The army usually splits up into smaller stacks though, so it's a bit less vicious. Did have a pretty massive battle in the last war I had though, with my 60k stack versus the aforementioned 50k+ one.

Anyhow, Western Protectorate has ceased to be a problem. I had one of my vassals with a claim on a big chunk of what I needed, then apparently him being a king allowed him to be the heir to the other three kingdoms so a lot of money changed hands for nefarious purposes that may or may not have ended in the death of the incumbent, then invited another dude with a claim, gave him some land so I could get the last kingdom and the rest of the land I thought I needed. Took a few wars and added an extra century or so to getting unified, but I'm almost there.

Tibet has one barony I need, so I'm not allowed to do it yet. Hopefully just the one anyway... had enough of the "YAY I DID- why is the decision grayed out" moments thanks game.

Had an independence revolt too, but I won that before I stopped playing yesterday, so my first thing to do just now is hand all those titles out, make sure vassal wars is external, maybe destroy a few titles to piss everyone off. You know, standard stuff.

every single star wars film is insanely unrealistic over and over again with no resemblance whatsoever to how actual space combat works as one of its main features, i don't know how anyone can act as if this is new in TLJ

it's not a science-based series, it's space opera
Even Space Opera has its limits. Thats why the Wing Commander movie is acknowledged to be crap.

that, and, well, the crappy story and development.

Just like TLJ really

Well this was started with the knowledge there were going to be three films. You're not going to contain the story in one film when you know there's going to be another coming, else they would've ended this one after Kylo figured Rey wasn't for this dark side nonsense.

Well you lose prestige for each unlanded son outside of gavelkind succession. That's kind-of-sort-of a motive to hand out titles. Except all those kingdom titles they're mine.

Aristocracy are a mix of all the things people don’t like though. They’re rich folks receiving state welfare.

Well... Palpatine in Empire pops up out of nowhere. No backstory or nuffin'. I don't think the backstory is even really explored at all until the Prequel trilogy. I mean the Prequel trilogy is pretty much Palpatine's rise to power.
Not really the same. Back then there was no backstory to to conflict with.  I also daresay that, particularily with the former fact in mind, we do get a bit of exposure during the movies. We dont know the details, but we have a general outline of where palp stands

'Sides, the equivalent of Palpatine appearing in Empire for Snoke was his appearance in Force Awakens, not the Last Jedi.

Parallels can be made with RotJ for this one then :p

Luke Rey surrenders himself herself to Vader Kylo, who takes him her to Palpatine Snoke, who is then killed by Vader Kylo ‘cause Palpatine Snoke was a bit too confident in Vader’s Kylo’s loyalty.

Not really sure how the lack of background is different this time to the original three though. There’s enough copying of older films that the mystery of Snoke is the same as the mystery of Palpatine from the original trilogy.

Palpatine gets mentioned in passing in the first movie (emperor has dissolved the senate how will order be maintained without the bureaucracy this battle station etc.) then makes an appearance via holocomm in the second and is the big bad in the third, trying to turn our protag antag. Snoke makes an appearance via holocomm in the first, and in the second is revealed to have been a big bad for a while, and... well, thinks the protag’ll get killed by the antag. Close enough.

As for him being dead, Darth Maul didn't survive being bisected by a lightsabre (he also fell into a powercore, so theres that)

... he actually survived, canonically.

Anyway:
- If he turns out to have a point and a background beyond a walking McGuffin/Palpatine stand-in, then what they did is poor storytelling.

- If he turns out NOT to have a background, and he´s nothing but a walking McGuffin/Palpatine stand-in because yadda yadda we´re starting something new not going with the old, then it´s poor storytelling, and needlessly complicated (The easiest way to do away with the previous setting is NOT starting at the previous setting.

Kind of lame, too. Surprise killing characters off is a gimmick copied from the GoT gameshow which gets old very soon (Worth noting that in the books they do this stuff far less often)

A cynic would say they're keeping his backstory as a reason to make another movie or three.

The two new movies in the series have pretty much been rehashes of the original trilogy. Obviously so in the case of the Force Awakens being A New Hope, and The Last Jedi sharing elements of Empire and RotJ.

Not really having issues to be fair, attacked them a few more times and won. For some reason the one time I had issue (a retreating army recovered much faster than I expected) the largest stack buggered off beyond Tibet allowing me to take way I needed.

I am happy you told me that the empire and kingdom titles would be destroyed though. That would not be something I’d like to discover after the fact.

None of those words are against forum rules.

Eh, depends how you use 'em.

I imagine the particular order they come in (pun..?) is not great seeing as there are few things it could mean.

Some advice, I s'pose.

I'm trying to get all of India. I have the two of the three empire titles (Rajastan and Bengal) but the third title, and all of southern India, is occupied by the Western Protectorate.

Spoiler: longish story (click to show/hide)

I don't particularly want to fight them a thousand times for the remaining land, which is a bloody lot. This is compounded by my constantly 100% threat, 'cause why not attack when I can win. Slightly unfair that the Western Protectorate is part of defensive pacts against me when they get their army numbers boosted by the dragon throne every 20 minutes...

I have flirted with the idea of invading China via hostile actions, though I'm not sure that's a good idea since holyshit75%dropthat'salot in levy reinforcement rate.

Anyhow, what would you guys do?

If I was a prosecutor I'd try to find whatever the term is for someone who hires a hit, because that's effectively what this is. I'm pretty sure it's a murder charge, but I'm 100% sure I'm just making it up.

I'm reasonably sure that's still first-degree murder. You intend to kill the person, you're just paying someone else to do it.

That's not what happened here, though.
