It’s nice to be ambidextrous in some matters.

McCarthy is supposedly interested in maintaining Ukrainian support.

Whether or not he’s still in the job to be able to do that is anyone’s guess.

People can have opinions without having other people pay money for them, you know…
Yeah, but not politicians...
Depends on the politician.

I think there was mention of four different packages being voted on to avoid the shutdown, possibly in addition to the short-term one the Senate passed. Is there any information on what’s in those packages out there?

Please, no, you have invited another page of aquatic mammal puns.

What better way for people to octopi their time?

Yeah, you’ve got every right to express how you feel, and every right to challenge her on you she treats you. This is not you messing up, it’s you asking to have your boundaries respected.

My wife doesn’t like it when I call her unpleasant things in jest, so… I don’t. My wife also doesn’t like it when I give her a fright, so… I don’t, and endeavour to avoid it even by accident. I’m a wee ninja though, so it is sometimes difficult.

My wife tends to get me sick as well, I don’t blame her for it. It’s not like she’s doing it on porpoise.

I think his veneer of competence was shattered when it took him 15 rounds of voting to become the speaker, and his negotiation seemed to mostly involve just doing the vote again until he panicked and caved to the nutjob wing of the Republicans.

Now his choice is negotiate with the Democrats and face a vote to oust him which could quite easily succeed given there are 12 rebels and a 9 seat majority, or do nothing and force thousands of people out of their jobs during a cost of living crisis.

I’m pretty sure it’s on the PS Store if you have a PS4 or PS5.

I’m not sure comparisons between US elections during a civil war and Ukrainian elections during an actual war can really be made. By the time the elections came round, the Union was basically going to win (though I’ll accept that prior to about two months before the election, that wasn’t quite so obvious) and Confederate states didn’t get a vote (obviously, they’re not part of the union) so it was basically administering votes in areas that were already controlled, minus Louisiana and Tennessee as they’d seceded but been recaptured. There are still Ukrainians living in Russian occupied areas of Ukraine.

I don’t think the Russian soldiers would allow people to vote, logistically or otherwise, and even if they did, there was the “plebiscite” held in the four areas Russia annexed that had armed Russians going round collecting votes, which surprise surprise “voted” to become part of Russia.

It becomes a Catch-22 of allowing Russia to have a pretty direct influence over the election, or allowing Russia the propaganda of not allowing those in occupied areas to vote, so they can say that Ukraine has abandoned them and they belong to Russia now.

Had a major issue with a streaming platform earlier today, it wouldn’t let me sign in via apps on two different devices, like… it wouldn’t even acknowledge it sometimes, and other times it was like “nah, error”, and it did the same thing on two different browsers via one of those devices and my desktop. Wouldn’t let me reset my password, either, and restarting devices and apps and routers had no effect either.

Got offered a sweetener when trying to cancel it, which I would have been taken in if the only thing I was interested in on the app wasn’t offered elsewhere, or if I wasn’t worried the issues would arise again when the free period ended so that I couldn’t just cancel my account in 2 months instead of now.

Too bad the billing period was yesterday, could’ve saved six bucks.
