Answering peoples' questions.

You do realize I'd have to do quite a bit of fiddly to actually get the quotes of the questions in, right?

Not really, I do it all the time.

Or is your response to my subtle accusation that you're deliberately obfuscating so we can't get a read on you really going to be "because it's too hard"?

So what is it, exactly, that you're doing?

So you're just trying to placate the people asking you questions then?

In order!

@filipk: Nobody, because insufficient data.

@Shakerag: Poorly.

How is answering the questions like that any different from getting people to find the questions that were asked to you? There's no context, so people have to go look for the questions you're answering...

PPE: goddamn. Really?

@hector13: Where's the reads? Also, because I think you're fishy, what would you offer me to claim my role?

Something most people would consider unpleasant, like haggis. Unless you mean in game terms, in which case nothing. Too early in the game to be trusting folk, and there's a role's list at the start that can be cherry-picked from easily enough.

However, turn that question around: what would you accept as reasonable compensation in return for you claiming your role?

Didn't know I was s'posed to offer up reads, since we're still in the midst of RVS.

I only have gut feelings, presently, which are:

Spoiler: gut feelings (click to show/hide)

I have no idea what's going on there, but it isn't anything good.

What makes you say that?

I'm Spartacus a kook.

Doesn't Meph know that too many kooks spoils the broth..?

hector13: What do you think the odds are of doll or RattyB being the D1 lynch are?

1 in 14, each. /pedant

doll is firing out claims left and right, and I don't doubt that one of them is what they actually are. Probably won't get lynched D1, probably not scum. We'll see how that goes,

RattyB strikes me as new, and B12 is generally quite lenient toward newer players, so also probably not a D1 lynch. They also haven't said much, and B12 generally doesn't policy lynch, 'specially not on D1.

doll: How would you win as a neutral/town-aligned third party?
hector13: How would you win as an evil third party?
Deus Asmoth: How would you find doppelgangers as town?
4maskwolf: Assuming you had an investigative ability, how would you decide who to target?
Shakerag: Who would you daykill right now if you could?
TBF: What strategy would you use if you were a doppelganger?
Leafsnail: If you were an advanced doppelganger, when and why would you choose to convert/consume someone?
webadict: If you were a vigilante, when would you kill and why?

I hate questions like these.

*sigh*

What do you think these types of questions add to the game, content-wise?

hector13: How would you win as an evil third party?

Kill everyone..?

You were active and got quickly townread in our previous game.
Will you be similarly active in this game?

No, I've got RL things to prepare for over the next week or so.

@Shakerag:
More like 'I'm not going to go through the effort of tracking down all the questions people asked me in a vast morass of longposts'.

There is a search function for the forums. "TBF", "Fish", and "TheBiggerFish" are likely to yield results for this topic.

Also, ctrl+F, with the same criteria.

Literally my entire life :P and beyond!

There was a fairly constant waxing and waning of euroscepticism in the conservative party, but I don't think leaving the EU was ever truly considered possible until the morning after the night before.

Even Farage said on the night that "Remain might just nick it".

The problem with that thinking is that the status quo was being in the EU.

gg ez

I enjoyed that. Would've enjoyed it more had Imic not had RL happen, but ah well. I think Mafia Marathon put me in a better mindset for playing as scum.

Also, scumchat, and the single post in deadchat.

Or "those people" being... the people what she's referring to?

Sounds like nitpicking, frankly. If she said "we used to work in the mines for generations", I imagine there'd be folk saying "no pal, you didn't work in the mines, we did!" so yeah, she's losing in your eyes irrespective of what she says.

You know, I keep hearing about how strong retinues are, but I've never been able to figure out why. They're far smaller than any levies I can raise - the only large advantage I can see is that you can have them active at all times, to respond to a revolt or try to take out a single county.
Levies are good, but levies + retinues + holy orders + mercenaries are even better.

Also the most efficient place to get levies is your capital province.  If you've got 4 provinces total, great.  But if you've got 100 provinces, suddenly that capital levy (and your personal levy in general) is a drop in the bucket and most of your levies are going to be come from your not necessarily reliable vassals.  Meanwhile being an empire, having increased tech, and having a huge realm make your retinues much larger.

I like to have a large capital province that I can build castles in. That way I get a lot of benefit from the steward collecting taxes and the marshal raising troops. I had about 20k troops coming from my capital province alone in my last game.
