It goes even deeper than that LW. Some coating on my entrance hall walls causes the game to crash when I loo(k) at it, as does a legendary woodworker. There's also an elf being beat on in the caverns that refuses to die despite the fact that every organ in his body is red...

Well, it looks as if he wanted yarn. Ty all.

Btw, as of now, I'm using the "planepacked" trick to keep him from going insane, putting him in a burrow that includes some of the items he wants, and letting him go grab as much of it as his heart desires. In this case, he's grabbing all my wood. Ideally I'd like to avoid making a 100,000,000 Urist bed for fear of getting owned by the next siege, but it wouldn't bother me all that much if it came to that to avoid him going insane.

I've currently got a woodworker in a strange mood. He is requesting

"Stone...Rock" (stone, which obviously is kinda plentiful)

"Tree...Life" (logs, which, once again, is kinda plentiful, a bit too plentiful if you ask me since an eleven caravan got massacared by goblins because some dwarves decided to let their socks jam the outer doors. Then again, he actually picked this up)

"Cloth...Thread" (cloth, I'd think maybe he was asking for yarn, but he's already got some rope reed fiber cloth in his shop)

"Rough...Color" (rough gems, which we kinda have A LOT of.)

"Leather...Skin" (got it in his shop)

"Bones...Yes" (I've slaughtered several animals, and he seems content to sit around in his workshop complaining about the lack of bones."

Since this guy is a legendary marksdwarf, I'd rather he not go bezerk and take out half my military, plus he's in a carpenter's shop so I'm likely to get an artifact I can actually use out of him.

How do I find out who owns it?

Maybe if I assigned them a room they'd move their shit there.

Yep, several. And I frequently have 10+ idlers.

This has a problem that has cost me numerous forts, and would have cost me even more had dwarf fortress not crashed on me and forced a savescum: How do I get dwarves to remove those twenty pairs of socks lying around in the door from when a goblin died there? They have dump designations and everything, and aren't forbidden!!!

I know, but it's still amusing.

I have just found what might be the most awesome Serpent man ever, and likely a reincarnation of Âsax, the most awesome cave swallow man ever.

His name is Osmusturog, which apparently means machinecackled, and to date he's killed ever single forgotten beast that's showed up in my fortress with a tower-cap spear, oftentimes all by himself. Interestingly, he's listed as friendly rather than hostile like the rest of his kind, just like Âsax, and while he hasn't been obsessively renaming his spear he's pretty much unharmed despite having spent several months at a time in combat with FBs. Like, I mean, literally in perfect shape, all body parts white. He was briefly a blisterball after getting doused in a vomit blob's toxic gas, but he healed from that about a day after slaying the beast.

Hell, I just found ANOTHER friendly serpent person, this time a female, also a spear user. Maybe it has something to do with the gobbos I dumped down there (long story, involves many, many levers) who were mercilessly slaughtered by her "tribe"?

oh btw, I just found a troll and a giant toad floating in mid air for some reason. This fortress is weird.

DF Dwarf Mode Discussion / Re: Dwarven... "Child Care"
« on: January 25, 2012, 11:47:54 am »
hmmm...Is there any reason you could lock a child in a traditional danger room until they become legendary dodgers, then dropping badgers on them?

611
Oh gawd, Ieb, now I'm worried. :S

You should be more concerned about Mego building a complex engineering project involving both magma AND water that he got wrong once already.

That was Failcannon Prime right?

I'm still bummed that it turned out in the awesome reclaim thread that Failcannon Prime wouldn't have worked even if it had gotten finished.

612
You know, considering how LW's first try went, I fear for what the fort will be like when my turn rolls around (No offense of course, Swordthunders is a damn hard fort to reclaim without cheese tactics like speardorfs). Then again, if the Walls aren't Bleeding flaming puppies by the end, then it isn't a proper succession game.

613
^ But Goblinite is the only source of iron available in Swordthunders!

614
Looks like things are going pretty well...

*crosses fingers*

If by pretty well you mean the walls are going to start bleeding burning puppies, then yes, its going pretty well.

615
Oh, I forgot to mention this in the update, but I'm making serated discs for weapons traps.
