DF General Discussion / Re: Highest waterfall you've ever seen
« on: July 02, 2011, 03:16:35 pm »
Only eight, but it went onto land and THEN went into the river. My dwarves kept walking across this one tile passage to get by the river.

And thus a waterfall killed me fortress.

Spoiler: Floating Guts Editted (click to show/hide)

Ignore the "Small in size", I have yet to change the description.

"What's wrong, pa? Found another grizzly bear again? Or did another woodcutter mistake your leg for a trunk?"
He turns around, his expression grave; "The goblins are laying siege. We need to escape."

Yeah, why not, do the action above.

You approach your father, and are about to ask why he is not at work, when you notice his leg; it bears a blood soaked bandage.

You are behind him, he still has not noticed you.

A tip for haikus;
Stuck? Say refrigerator!
Refrigerator.

Ask him why he is home so early. If the news isn't terribly horrible grab your rod, stop by the butchers, and meet up with your friend.

Why would you stop by the butchers?

203
(From now on, I am going to do this in FIRST PERSON, and in present tense. I feel more comfortable doing it like that. Half the time I accidently do "You do X".)

You decide that these despicable wretches should be reported, but you should go fishing first.

Arriving home, you notice your father. He should probably be at work as a wood cutter.

Urist sneaked down, trying to make as little noise as possible. Round a small bend, he peaked around, and quickly turn back as he realised how close to them he was.

Gruff Voice: No, you were meant to have the merchendise by TODAY!
Hesitant Voice: L-L-Look, the boss is having some trouble with negotiations, our agents has been searched and executed! We're trying to get more, but they jacked up the price!
Gruff Voice: Look, you idiot! Get us the Cuteboldogpraphy by tomorrow, or you and your family are DEAD!

Urist was shocked. Cuteboldogprahy is a serious crime - depicting any kobold in a cute, innocent or otherwise adorable way is seen as sympathising with the filthy rodents!

Then again, you could probably carve some Cutebold figurines yourself, and sell them for a good price.

"Underground" Urist said, "Maybe we can find a really scary fish!" Thodam's expression showed that he obviously didn't like such an idea, but he nonetheless could not look forward to a bit of fishing. "Great, I'll meet you at the enterance to the underground. Lets go fetch our rods."

Urist began walking home, to retrieve his fishing rod. However, on the way there, he heard a commotion - he was walking through a passage through a dimly lit corridor of the Lower Residential District, when he heard shouting and running down another, much darker and tigher passage.

206
"Alright, you big softie, lets go fishing." Thodem brightens up. "Underground or overground?" he asks.

207
When one option gets two votes, we'll go for that.

208
Urist ponders the idea of finding a stray animal and brutally killing it. Unfortunately, he realised, his parents would never leave a potential weapon in his reach. He asked Thodam, but Thodam seemed horrified at the idea of killing a poor cute innocent animal.

209
"Want to have a party?" Urist asked, but Thodam shook his head. "Pretty much everybody will still be working with their masters for ages."

Thinking of interesting things to do, Urist made a mental list;

They could the above ground, and mess around in the woods, or look for treasure and adventure.
They could visit the zoo. (May cost money)
They could join a tour group of the caverns. (May cost money)
They could go fishing by in a cavern or by the near above ground lake.
Finally, they could walk around the mountainhome and see if there is anything else interesting to see or do.
