I don't know if Bustcomet got a good or rotten start...
On the rotten side:
- Turns out "shallow metals" translates to "gold and f██king galena".

Galena gives you silver so you can at least arm your militia with silver warhammers... armour may be a challenge though...

Aren't cave blobs basically liquid and very killable indeed? I swear I had one turn up a while ago and a hunter took it down with a single shot.

Spill some suitably lethal forgotten beast extract in a thoroughfare, then designate it as a restricted traffic zone. Your dwarves will go around it, but children and pets will walk straight through it and die. If FB extract is too difficult to arrange, try a repeating spike trap. Downside with that though is that if something dies on the trap tile itself, an adult dwarf may go onto it to retrieve the body. Or just a sock...

Tested (not intentionally) in my fort. Side-effects may include filling the fort with miasma from rotting feet everywhere, the death of all your wardogs, and a lot of tantruming parents and cat-owners.

I think you're more likely to have issues with flying dwarves suddenly losing the ability to fly while a hundred feet above the ground....

After all that design, it ended up unnecessary.  FBs will shoot web even without path.

Interesting... Could this be a consequence of the interactions rewrite? If so, could it apply to other things... like dragonfire? Making dragon pillboxes much easier...

I think this calls for !!SCIENCE!!

When sealing off the clowns, it's usually best to use a cave in instead of walls. As some of them are building smashers. Also, Don't hesitate on sacrificing a few dwarves to seal off the circus as far down as possible, So that you don't have to waste a lot of valuable time checking all possible entry ways and crying laughing because you missed one.

Building destroyers can't destroy walls...

the only organs you need are Lungs, brain, and the heart. Nothing else is needed for a dwarf to live.

I'm not even convinced that dwarves need a heart - it's just that if you damage the heart by, say, shoving a spear into it, you will get so much blood loss that the dwarf dies in a couple of rounds.

I'm pretty sure there was a post a while ago where a dwarf had a "broken" heart and still lived.

It could be the door, if that's one from a previous attempt and they're trying to bring another one in. They will move stuff out of the way unless it has an order on it (ie a hauler coming to ake it away) or it is forbidden.

Or you could have a bug similar to my fort. On a certain surface tile where I want to build a wall, I've always had it suspended due to "creature occupying site". There is never a creature there. But since it's not an important wall I chalked it up as a minor bug and moved on. That fort is DF2010 though, so might be obsolete now.

Actually. Who needs to find vampires? I get way too many migrants to care about losing one per month to a killing machine.

"Urist McLegendaryWeaponsmith is missing!"

That's why.

How do you become a 'Husk'?

Same question. It would seem that the OP modded his game or something.

Nope, it's been confirmed you can become a husk, thrall, murk or whatever by jumping in the right cloud of nasty.

Though if you pick the wrong cloud, you may get brain necrosis or something equally FUN instead...

to beat out a Necro tower all you need is
oldschool Dfusion with embark anywhere,
a fort,

Once you embark on the tower you want, pause real fast and lock the doors to the necro fort trapping them. Send your dwarves out to dig out and under them and topple the whole site.
they will be all dead and you can pick up their books no effort at all for your adventurer.

That's just cheating.

Swords all the way. They're hugely versatile, and besides every self-respecting medieval hero should have a sword.

A large forge room with rows of smelters and forges, and magma piped underneath to serve them.

Also large halls with lots of pillars for my nobles.

Menacing steel spikes too, somewhere that goblins will "find" them.
