Yes, naturally, because making my karma meter glow green or purple via a series of binary choices is much more interesting than getting into my opponent's head and exploiting his weaknesses.

Do you mean that literally?

Every game needs some kind of choice.

Give me an example of a game that doesn't involve choice.

I suppose I should define 'choice' in this context. The free will of morality, direction or such. Minecraft definitely has such choice, as does DF and KOTOR, among others. With this definition, Halo or Call of Duty doesnt, if you want to continue the story. Sure, you can dick around near the start of the level, but that doesnt acomplish anything. With MC, you can do anything, and it will still continue the 'story'. That's the way I see 'choice' in a video game.

Of course there are smaller choices in games like Halo, ect, like choosing to shoot or not, but that's not quite what I mean by 'choice' in this context. Hope that made sense.

I also find that a necessity. It separates the shallow games from the deep games.

Intricate, well-developed plotlines, and an interesting setting, with plenty of choices. Oh, and it must be open-ended/sandbox, if possible.

One is given a choice between a male or female robot, then. Simple.

Has no one mentioned the entire city that got cut from the game and replaced by a tiny, quest-specific ruined outpost?

I like Kongregate, but I haven't been on Newgrounds, so I can't really say.

Just because you've been hired to kick the evil monster out of a civilian apartment building, that doesn't mean you have the keys to every door.

Oh course, they'll probably get smashed open anyways...

Japan is secretly taking over the world using subliminal messages hidden in anime and manga. That is why anime girls are so irresistible. The seizures from that Pokemon episode were the results of a foul-up in the coding.

I don't see why it has to be that way, most guys would be more comfortable being patted down by a woman  :P
+1
Obvious statement is obvious.

Of course, I don't think that that is true for the other way around....

The only thing that kept me from fully enjoying Morrowind were some of the visuals. I could never get over the feeling I was playing some sort of weird, medieval Star Wars RPG. Oblivion was the complete opposite. The visuals were really the only super compelling thing about that game.

Really?  I felt the exact opposite.  Oblivion's visuals were dull as hell and didn't even match with the series own lore while Morrowind's were fascinating.

While, the ones in Shivering Isles were pretty awesome, but for the most part, it was Middle-Earth ripoff all the way, while everything I've seen in Morrowind looks interesting.

Grah, can't get a DS or PSP emulator working.

I don't think there are any PSP emulators that can actually run games yet.  I remember looking a few months ago.

If it can't run games, what's the point?

Life Advice / Re: Staying Motivated
« on: December 13, 2010, 11:12:35 pm »
Think about the consequences of not mustering enough motivation. Imagine them, and if you continue to lack motivation, imagine the even more long term consequences. By the time you get to lying dead in the gutter (in the scenario, of course), you should be ready to work like a madman to avoid this.

Thanks, I'll watch those when I get a chance. Back on topic, I also noticed that Oblivion severely lacked in role-playing ability. Very few dialogs actually had different things one could say (Ex. Emperor conversations in tutorial dungeon, Dark Brotherhood chatting with victims), rather then just a generic topic button.
