Hey guys, come visit the wonderful town of Lichcity (21,25) that features no road access, but is within walking distance of both a level 2 and a level 3 dungeon. On a clear day, you can see them both from town!

Also, the economy is tanking and we need the turists  ;D

Lichcity is where I was born and I went there to conquer it, and then I saw I was too late  :'(

Kingdom of Time is also expanding in the Northwest. A lot of towns that were free towns a week ago are controlled by Time now, and the area claimed by Kingdom of Madel (NPC) has shrunk.

Also I'm relatively sure that Oddity Kingdom was not in existence a week ago, so they appear to be a rising power as well.

The Intrepid Lil Group consists of:

Thorgest Crowchaser - Dwarf Warrior
Lux the Chippy - Human Warrior
Milo of the Wildest Oats - Elf Archer
Momar the Drow - Elf Archer
Ragnar Plate Top - Human Priest
Morgana Dark Binding - Elf Warrior

The key member of the group has become Ragnar Plate Top (named for his bald head), due to the many Heals and Portal spell he brings to the team. Milo is the flashiest member, staying on the front lines with some of the worst armor and the highest agility, and always staying alive. Just now I found an awesome 2.4k bow for sale in town and bought it for Milo: it is a Long Bow that procs a Level 8 Ice Damage spell on most hits. I have seen monsters take between 5-16 ice damage per hit so far. Thorgest, my only dwarf, is the leader. Morgana, my only recruited member, is the black sheep and the only one who has needed to be resurrected. Lux has the highest strength so she is the door basher. Momar is the quiet, steady DPS.

I have been hanging out in a cluster of towns and dungeons in the West-North West of the world. I am fully loyal to the Kingdom of the Twelve Bays, and will likely make my way south at some point, but for now I am grinding in this area, and I will experiment with conquering towns once I advance a few more levels. I am well equipped due to the overpowered chests in sewers, and with a few sets of Plate Mail, Splint, and Scale Mail to round out the crew, most monsters are unable to hit me at all.

The game is really cool at first because it is somewhat hard to get going (depending on where you start) and the world feels undiscovered and rural, but my big concern is that it quickly is getting very easy and grindy (since most fights are oh so easy). Hopefully the PvP, politics, and higher level dungeons give it a longer life.

I think my favorite thing about this game is seeing which of my troopers has emerged as the team badass. My man Franco (second recruit) with his outside-inside Bazooka/Assault Rifle approach, and Dodge/Tuck&Roll/Invincible/Sprinter elusiveness, is definitely going to carry the squad.

I have been playing for a couple days as Intrepid Lil Group. Seems like a cool game starting out (has the feel of an undeveloped world of newbie adventurers) and hopefully it has staying power.

Anyone know if those small turquoise squares on some of the sewer tiles are anything but decoration? With all the talk of chests, I thought maybe those were chests somehow, but I have wasted enough turns searching and have given up thinking there are any chests in the sewer of this backwoods town I started in. Suprisingly, the town did have a poor blacksmith show up overnight, so now he can repair my gear. I'm planning to make a long excursion to the dungeon at 48,25 if it's still there after the day change, since I'm at 21,25 now.

In terms of our growing monster compendium: When I face a group of Bugbears it says I have a good chance to win, however, they hit quite hard (4 dmg) and slow down my party's progress even if I win.

Pretty cool game, signed up under Frontier Justice.

So is it random what skills you get to pick between at each level?

IIRC correctly, Gato was booted from his last village for stealing all their cheese. There's a thread about it from around 10 days ago.

I'm going to sit this one out as I've gotten into another game, Haven & Hearth, lately, and definitely wouldn't have time for Die2Nite too. If I get back into D2N in the future and some of you guys are still playing, I will link up with you then.

Under the old system, "pointless grinding" meant chopping down trees and building tons of buckets, leaving dozens of stumps behind, and getting lots of LP. In the new system, tasks like farming, carpentry, tanning, and cooking are the closest thing to "pointless grinding" in the sense you aren't getting more curios (LP) while you do them.

But all those jobs improve the infrastructure of your town, which in turn creates more curios. In the old system, a thriving town only gave you better stats and equipment. Now a thriving town gives you better stats, equipment, and skills. Whereas the old system rewarded bots and mindless grinding, the new system is far more rewarding to smart play and teamwork. The game is still a huge grind though.

As a side effect, curios are a great form of currency, so hard working low tech towns can more easily trade for high tech tools.

I have been playing off and on for a couple weeks on my hermit plantation. Still haven't gotten my Palisade fully up, but my area seems quite peaceful and largely abandoned. I am open to a Bay 12 town in the future, although for the time being, I'm just going to do my hermit thing and try to learn the game inside and out by having to do everything on my own. If anyone from the town in W4 with Mithra/Shady/Ilya, or anyone who has shown a real commitment to this thread over time, wants to join me, they're welcome, although like I said it's just a developing plantation with meh resources (I have a cave with iron), a peaceful neighborhood, and my meh character.

The game keeps drawing me back. Still no clue if I can stick with it long term. I think the big issue with this game is you need to find a couple people who are "hardcore" in the sense that they don't quit - even if they only play for an hour a day, they keep playing for the entirety of the world. If we can develop a core of those people here at Bay 12, including someone who is active enough and mature enough to be a leader, then we can recruit the part-timers and newbies around that core. The other thing is we need to either use this thread or an offsite message board, or IRC, to really communicate with one another. These are my opinions based on a brief stint in a W4 town and thinking about it quite a bit.

I think the new LP system is awesome.

(the idea of having independent homes linked only by a "communication" totem is another idea)

I will NOT be around to jump on May 29. If Kachajal is, then our coalition is fine.

Current coalition:

I dunno, we've been waiting four towns now for a lightning bolt of good luck to strike us, and it's been nothing but dull skies...

Urm how do I join up??

Sorry I've read some of the guides and stuff but Im still confused..

cheers,

Hit the "Soul" link on the menu near the top of your Die2Nite screen. Then click the Coalition tab. There should be an invite for you to join Redfield's coalition. Join that. Then set your status to Available, once you're on the coalition screen.
