Once you're in a coalition, remember to set your status to AVAILABLE!

Day 1 Plan:
Build: Watchtower, Searchtower
These two constructions will require 54 AP, so therefore we only need a few builders on day one.

Everyone scavenges today! Auto-scavenge an undepleted square until it is depleted!

No more than 2 people per square, unless it's needed to overcome zombies.

Don't scavenge the squares just outside of town - in fact, go as far away as reasonably possible, and then autoscavenge your way back in - the squares outside of town will become depleted by people heading out anyways.

We need three heroes to use the Brothers in Arms ability on three residents. The residents will choose the Scout class, and use all their AP to scout a section of the map. Then they will use Heroic Return to get back to town. You can use Heroic Return even if you are trapped by zombies. These Resident-Scouts should wait in town for 30 minutes or so while the rest of the town spreads out. Then, head to where a Hero is auto-searching, who will give you BiA and make you a Scout. Feel free to volunteer in this thread or on IRC if you can do this job as a resident.

Using IRC on day one will be helpful to coordinate rescue missions and the Hero-Scout gameplan.

Still waiting for a reply to coalition invites from Digao and NeverGiveUp

Cancel those invites and send invites to two of these three guys:

Romothecus (Hero)
Halfman
CarrKnight

Then we'll need Grov or Redfield to invite the other. Ricky said he can be on at the jump. The other people have not responded in days to invites.

We plan to launch (join a town simultaneously) at approximately 7:30pm EDT on April 26.

I noticed I wrote this in the OP. I want to be clear that this is NOT the exact jump-off time tomorrow. If you need to know the exact jump-off time (heroes), please ask in IRC or via PM. Plenty of people know when it is.

The reason we are being slightly clandestine about the start time is because we did have some griefers join our last town when the exact time/date was put on the site.

125
Which coalition should I join?

I have not spoken to Romothecus today, but he may be able to make the jump-off time, and form a coalition with the remaining unassigned players.

If not, if you show up on IRC at the jump-off time (either ask in IRC or send me a PM on Bay 12 if you need to know the time) we will very likely to be able to pull you into the town. Basically a hero will boot one of their coalition members once they're dragged into town, and quickly invite you, which will auto-drag you in.

Redfield may have open slots tomorrow as well. If you get on IRC we should be able to find everyone a spot.

a couple changes/addendums

1) You won't get more AP by eating/drinking more than once.

1) You won't get more AP by eating/drink more than once per day.

3) Map markers. The ONLY map markers we use are "Nothing" "Depleted Zone" and "Likely Campsite". "Nothing" is for when a zone is not depleted. "Depleted Zone" is self-explanatory. "Likely Campsite" is for when you are auto-searching an undepleted zone... be sure to change the marker before you leave or if it gets depleted.

We will no longer use the "Likely Campsite" marker for when we are auto-searching in a zone. Now that camping is in the game, doing so could be confusing. Plus, it was not really helpful in the first place imo.

It looks like things are coming together. I want to point out that we do have people who are brand new to Die2Nite playing with us. It does not take much to transform a newbie into a knowledgeable player in this game - so long as you ask questions, and get good answers.

Here is a list of some guidelines I wrote before our last town. I assume they are all still relevant in Season 2.

1) You won't get more AP by eating/drinking more than once.
2) If you are trapped in a zone with too many zombies, NEVER run away. Post in the forums for help and someone will come to save you (their presence will add control points to the zone).
3) When you first login for the day, go to the Watchtower and "estimate the attack".
4) Vote for projects on your last login of the day, once the town has decided what project we're voting for. This should be quite straightforward as we have an Upgrade Path decided on.
5) Use autosearch! You can just sit there every 2 hours and potentially find something new!
6) Do Not Try to fight the zombies with your bare hands. Unless you are very lucky, you will just waste AP.
7) Don't repair or build any items without asking first. Perfect example: Shopping Trolley. It sounds useful, but it requires a copper pipe to repair, and we may need the copper pipe for something important. Always ask!
8. Don't start any new constructions without proposing the idea first. It will be very clear what you should build by looking at the Construction Sites thread.

And for people new to Bay 12 towns:

1) Most of our planning is done through IRC. It is a democratic and open process, and we encourage everyone to get involved.
2) Expeditions are organized through IRC as well. In the first few days of the game expeditions are very important until we get Plumbing or other advanced weapons. After that, we use IRC to coordinate zombie killing duties.

The Die2Nite wiki is very good:

We use the External Map heavily. It is important that everyone keep the map updated accurately.

Updated OP to reflect current status of the coalitions. Looks like most everyone is added. inteuniso was already in a coalition when Redfield tried to invite him.... Romo did you add him?

Let us know if anyone doesn't accept an invite. We may have some late additions so it is fine if people have room available.

If you're a hero make sure you know the jump-off time. You will need to be in IRC when we join the town together.

129
I updated the OP to reflect the current status of coalitions. We will need three more coalitions formed, based on the number of players we have now. I believe Redfield said (on IRC) he would be forming a coalition later today, but that still leaves us needing two more heroes who can be around at the jump-off time (ask in IRC if you don't know it yet) and can fill up a coalition of peoples.

Less than 72 hours until we're in a town!

130
Okay we should start organizing ourselves into coalitions. If you are a hero, and will be available to be on IRC at our jump-off time, then please start a coalition and begin inviting people. Our jump-off time is going to be the same time as it was for the last town. If you want the specific time, ask in IRC.

If you are a player, leave your coalition if you are not in one with a hero/leader who is signed up. Or post here to say that you are already set for a coalition, so heroes don't spend all day trying to add people.

131
Sure, I'm up for this. I've got a lot of experience, and around 160+ soul points.

What's your in-game name?

132
The Die2Nite wiki has a bit of info on Season 2. If anyone ends up reading the official forums to see what people are saying about Season 2, please share the info with everyone here. As far as the new hero class goes.... I am not sure how that should change our hero class breakdown. Last town we did pretty well with something like 75% scavenger and 25% guardian. If anything it should be 85% scavenger and 15% guardian, but we will have to think through how the Tamer class (essentially an item hauling class) changes things.

# Bigger maps (25 x 25) available
# Camping in the desert
# Shunned able to hide objects and search the towns rubbish
# New profession - Tamer

133
Up to 25 people after a couple signed up through IRC.

134
Yes, new players and friends can join.

In the event we get more than 35 to sign up, here is what the policy will be: players who have been in a coalition town will get precedence over new people. Everything else will be on a first-come, first-served basis. On April 25, if we're at 35+, registration will close, and everyone else will be on a wait list.

List updated to here.

Other Games / Die2Nite Mega Town - Season II - Town Starts April 26
« on: April 17, 2011, 11:06:10 am »
After a long vacation, the Bay 12 mega coalition is ready to play another Die2Nite town together. Will everyone remember how to play? Do you have your hotkeys and macros saved? Will your computer be able to handle the new graphics that season two brings? Will the complexity of Die2Nite overwhelm your brain?

The only way to find out is to play!

IRC Info:

We are the Macabre battlements of lightning.

Die2Nite is a cooperative zombie survival game in which 40 people form a town together, gather items, eat, drink, do drugs, build defenses, and try to live together for as long as possible against an ever-increasing zombie horde. Towns typically last around two weeks, but the past two Bay 12 towns have lasted 25 days each. The record for longest lasting town is 31 days. In the past we shared the record for the longest lasting town, and we currently hold the record for the largest Day 24 attack ever survived.

The coalition took a month-long hiatus to refresh our batteries, and because next week Season II of the game will start. The new season will bring a brand new leaderboard, and some changes that will (presumably) improve the game. Die2Nite is a relatively simple game based on coordination and luck, so changes are likely to be a good thing and will spice things up.

The game is not especially time consuming, however, the most dedicated members who coordinate activities such as expeditions and zombie clearing, do tend to spend 1-2 hours in IRC right after the zombie attacks (at 6pm EDT) working things out. A member who reads the forums, understands the fundamentals of the game, and follows instructions, can be a valuable asset on as little as 10 minutes of play per day.

All past members of the Bay 12 coalition are welcome to join the town, and welcome to invite their friends. All Bay 12 forum posters are welcome to join the town as well. In all of our towns we have had brand new players become integral parts of the team.

Please sign-up in this thread and state whether or not you are a hero.

We plan to launch (join a town simultaneously) at approximately 7:30pm EDT on April 26. We will need one hero in each coalition to be available at that time, to jump.
