I've heard that wagons glitch up if you make them path through an area that's only 3 across, it may take some extra effort if you have this much laid out already, but see if you can expand the entryway to 5 tiles across.

It's plugged with bits of glass, but you don't get the glass from a workshop the same way you don't need to forge nails from a blacksmith to make a bed.

What are these nails you speak of? Dwarven beds are solid wood carved out from a single tree! Nails are for picky humans!

Most large animals need to eat grass that grows on the ground. Find some outdoor area (or an indoor area with underground plants growing), designate it as a pasture using i zones, and assign all your animals to it.

Ok I have a military question..

I tend to use danger rooms to train up otherwise useless Dwarves.
However, when there is nothign to kill, they still hang around useless.

Isn't there a way for units to "patrol" or be on constant gaurd like in the older versions?

I am just tired of looking at a unit list of 150 when only 75 of them are really useful.

I've never done this myself, but I think you can use the Notes system to link points on the map into a path that you can then assign military dwarves to follow.

In one of my recent forts (not technically abandoned but I'm not working with it for the moment on account of discovering there's no goblins in that world) I had a few strange ones, off the top of my head:

2 millstones (forget the material)
An alpaca bone shield
an oaken blowgun
a number of craft items made from valuable materials

I'll edit this after checking the specifics for other strange ones.

Edit: A gabbro crown, a green glass grate, a diorite quern, a pink jade grate, a dolomite grate (my dwarves have a thing for grates it seems). Nothing actually made of steel like I indicated before but it's a common decoration material on my artifacts.

What armor are the dwarves in? If their heads aren't protected than this shouldn't be too surprising, even if it is unlikely.

If they're in the military without at least competent in one military skill, they'll complain.

If you release them from military without at least competent in one civilian skill, they'll complain.

So a dwarf without any competent skill will complain both about being on military duty, and being relieved of it.

How many Z's down is the bottom of your map? I had a buggy embark with over 4500 z's down(I stopped trying).

That sounds like it could be awesome for making a massive underground fortress without worrying about caverns or lava sea or anything.

So, one of my dwarven children has gotten a strange mood and claimed a craftsdwarf workshop, he grabbed some rocks right away so I'm assuming a stonecrafter mood, anyone else seen children get moods before?
